For Schwarzenegger, the Last Piece of a Master Plan
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 — Almost as soon as the polls closed on Tuesday night, the networks announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger had been elected governor of California. The declaration came so quickly that not only was the candidate not at his own victory party, neither were his supporters.

Indeed, few had time to get to the hotel where the party was held.

Two and a half hours later, hundreds of supporters — and scores of reporters — had streamed into the ballroom of the Century Plaza Hotel here to cheer the immigrant bodybuilder-turned actor as he grabbed the ultimate prize in what he once called his "master plan."
...
Mr. Schwarzenegger's handlers said that they would take him out of the public eye for a few days to allow accusations of sexual misconduct to cool. And they spoke of a remarkable man and the capstone of a calculated life.
...
Mr. Schwarzenegger began planning for politics 35 years ago. At a pancake restaurant in Santa Monica, Calif., Mr. Schwarzenegger disclosed to his friends what he called his "master plan": become a movie star, make millions of dollars, marry a glamorous wife and hold political power over people.

"and hold political power over people."

instead of

"use his political power to represent the people"

Typical Thug mindset. Power over something.

My mom would be so proud of Arnie.

10. oh noooooooooooooo
Check this out:

"The smaller, unfavored son, Mr. Schwarzenegger suffered humiliations at the hands of his father and older brother."

George W. Bush, the less favored brother whose parents used to hum "Hail to the Chief" when Jeb entered the room.

Karl Rove, abandoned by his father on Christmas Day, abused and taunted.

Kenneth Starr, son of an authoritarian fundamentalist preacher, teased as a youngster for his odd ways.

John Ashcroft, son of an authoritarian fundamentalist preacher, subjected to rigid punishments.

Do you see a pattern here?

Out of all that you listed, I vote for Arschloch to be the first to go off his rails and start showing up in lipstick or somnething...

Maybe the whole lot of them could use a "Warrior Weekend"?

23. Yup, seriously dysfunctional people. Don't enable them in their
behavior. Make them take the consequences for their actions. Don't let them get away with blaming others, keep putting the ball back in their court.

These are seriously sociopathic personalities. All of them. And, if you look at the rest of the right-wing you'll find the same kind of thing, I'm convinced.

Happy, well-adjusted people don't gravitate towards selfishness, greed, racism, bitterness, hate, etc.

13. people when they vote
I honestly don't think that the ones who voted for him thought futher ahead than his fame and the production value of his campaign. They were just thinking how cool it would be to have the Terminator in office. Kinda like an impulse buy.

I'm afraid they are all going to be suffering buyers remorese very soon.

16. I guess it is safe for the rightwing media
to report stuff like this after he is elected...
Didn't want to upset voters with a 'smear' campaign like that evil Gray Davis was doing...
I actually heard a radio commentator from ABC news suggest that Arny was subject to a 'smear' campaign...
Funny Arny's campaign was little more than a smear itself with little of substance--even the GOP commentators noted this.

Just shut up and screech epithets

19. 35 years ago!
Was that his exact words? Heck, I can't remember my exact words from this morning. I wish I had a memory like that. Don't get me wrong. I would have never considered voting for Arnold, had I lived in CA, but how can you seriously consider a conversation that wasn't documented in someway that those were actually word for word. And what was his grasp of English 35 years ago? Has he even mastered it yet? To pounce on that is going to make it look like the "liberals are grasping at straws".

You DO really live in California. And we understand about the memory thing.

At least you've retained your taste for criticizing "liberals".
