Citadel selects Air Force Academy superintendent as new president
http://kcal9.com/national/Citadel-President-aa/resources_news_html

Air Force Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. John Rosa, who took over the school following a sex assault scandal and acknowledged problems of religious intolerance, is leaving to become president of his alma mater, The Citadel.

This week, the Air Force plans to release a report on claims that evangelical Christians have harassed cadets of other faiths. Rosa has acknowledged there is a problem of religious intolerance at the academy.

Billy Jenkinson, chairman of The Citadel's governing board, said Rosa's firsthand knowledge of the college and leadership experience made him the ideal choice.

Academy spokesman Johnny Whitaker said Rosa has to get approval from Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to leave active duty, which could take four to six months

2. I don't think Rosa is the fundie in charge...
... it's the facility commandant, Brig. Gen. Johnny Weida, who's the born-again Christian.

From this, my guess is that Rosa is just bailing out before the shit rises to his level. He's not been able to fix the problem, and wants to move on before he's accused of coddling the officer instigators (which he has done--if he'd told the Air Force to send Weida to Guam on a rowboat, they'd probably have done it if he was forceful enough, but he wasn't). Now, he's either going to have to live with a ton of shit, or he's going to escape as quickly as he can with his ranking and his reputation more or less intact.

For that reason, he's fucking perfect for the Citadel....
