Suicide Bomber Kills 20 at Iraq Police HQ
My beautiful mind....

===

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A suicide bomber disguised as a policeman blew himself up in the middle of a morning roll call Monday outside a traffic police headquarters in the northern Kurdish city of Irbil, killing at least 20 and wounding 50, officials said.

The bomber joined the gathering of some 200 traffic policemen in a courtyard at 8 a.m., police Col. Mohammed Saleh and Lt. Col. Abdul-Salam Zibari said.

The attack occurred on a main street that leads to the oil-rich northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, which is south of Irbil, police said....

The bombing came a day after Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said there are many relatively stable areas in Iraq, such as Irbil and Basra in southern Iraq.

5. at least six car bombs exploded across Iraq on Monday
~snip~
In the Kurdish city of Arbil, a suicide bomber drove his car into a crowd of police recruits, killing at least 12 and wounding about 100 on a soccer field, officials said. Five car bombs blew up in Baghdad, targeting Iraqi police and soldiers.

~snip~

The attack followed a major pre-dawn raid by insurgents on a police station in southwest Baghdad, where they detonated two car bombs and then ambushed Iraqi police and soldiers who came to assist a U.S. unit that also came under fire.

The U.S. military said five police and soldiers were killed and 20 wounded in the complex attack, which only subsided after U.S. air and ground support was called in. Iraqi police at the scene told Reuters 18 insurgents were killed and 14 captured.

~snip~

Two more car bombs targeted Iraqi police in the Mansour district of western Baghdad, Iraq's Defense Ministry said, and a fifth blew up at a checkpoint on the road to Baghdad airport. Early reports said three people were wounded in those blasts.

The U.S. soldier died when a car bomb detonated near a combat logistics patrol northeast of Tal Afar, military officials said.

The 1st Corps Support Command soldier died of wounds sustained in the bombing, authorities said. The soldier's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.

Tal Afar, located in Nineveh province west of restive Mosul, has been the scene of sustained insurgent activity, and recently U.S. and Iraqi forces launched a major show of force against insurgents there.

10. Got Quagmire?
While I have never supported this war, I did buy the theory that once we broke it, we bought it. According to his theory we can't withdraw because the ensuing power vacuum would bring instability and chaos. Now I'm convinced that things cannot be any more fucked up than we have made them and that we are most of the problem.

...Google a search on "Vietnam" and "Domino Theory" and get back to us.

That's the same bullshit that costs us 58,000 American lives.

Trust me - it's a completely bogus theory.
