Venezuelan Official Alleges Chavez Assassination Plot Being Hatched in Colombia

CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuela's government believes it has found evidence of an assassination plot against President Hugo Chavez by dissidents working with paramilitary groups in Colombia, the interior minister said Monday.

Interior Minister Jesse Chacon said anti-government radicals, including former military officers, have been discussing an assassination plot during clandestine meetings with members of right-wing paramilitary groups in neighboring Colombia.

"There is information from Colombia that here have been meetings, we have photographs and videos," said Chacon. "It's a job being carried out by people traveling to Colombia ... and have contacts with paramilitary groups."

Chacon, who is partly responsible for the president's security detail, did not identify any of the suspects behind the alleged plan, nor did he say when or where it was to take place.

1. This is entirely in keeping with what has already happened
when the Venezuelan government found over 100 Colombian paramilitary reptiles, fully armed, all living at the ranch of Cuban "exile," (and brother of Hollywood actress (did a Schwarzenegger movie), Maria Conchita Alonso) Roberto Alonso.

He's completely rabid right-wing, and lives next door to the fishing buddy of George H. W. Bush, the Venezuelan media owner, Gustavo Cisneros. Cisneros was one of the media owners who closed down the media during the surge into the streets by the poor of Venezuela directly after they learned Chavez had been kidnapped, following a long, hard hate campaign against Chavez by the privately owned papers and tv news stations.

The Colombian paramilitaries confessed they were paid to go across the border to help in some armed action when they were rounded up.

So they are following it up with another attempt from the same direction. They are damned determined to void the election AND the referendum results of the Venezuelan people. They'll keep trying, apparently, until something stops them.

Always nice to have a little insurance as leverage.

4. This is the next Nicaraugua Contra mission. Bush failed in his coup
attempt in 2002 and he is really pissed now and wants Chavez overthrown. Know why? Chavez is charging Exxon something like a 26% royalty fee for the oil they are producing when the oilies were used to 0% to 1% for years. Chavez is using this money to build roads, hospitals, and otherwise help the poor in his country. No more free ride for Exxon....and I know they went crying to Bush.
