US soldier killed in RPG attack in Iraq

BAGHDAD (AFP) - A US soldier was killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack early morning in Baqubah, 66 kilometres (39 miles) northeast of the Iraqi capital, the military said in a statement.

"A 4th Infantry Division soldier, while traveling in a convoy near Baqubah, died from wounds received from a rocket-propelled grenade attack at approximately 2 am (2300 GMT Wednesday) on October ninth," the statement said.

7. A Fear I Have

I fear that when we post stories regarding deaths in Iraq, it is perceived as 'celebrating' the death as a symptom of a failed policy.

I'm all for letting the facts speak for themselves, but we should be careful to acknowledge (and I'm not saying we haven't been careful up to this point, only we need to make sure we continue) that we mourn the loss of life and only point out such stories to highlight the fact that Bush's failure is having a very real, very disheartening affect on all of us. Every death in our military while they serve under Bush's failed Iraq policy is another family put through trauma.

Why does Bush insist on destroying a generation of our people? What kind of leadership is this?

Woke up many people who had been blithely going around and putting up yellow ribbons and telling us how they supported the troops.They realized: those are REAL people who are getting killed.

We expect a tremendous crowd for our peace rally on the 25th.

On news break at top of the hour on NBC...Kobe Bryant to have a hearing, flooding rains in Oklahoma, something fluffy I don't remember then "violence in Iraq" one soldier killed by RPG and 10 Iraqis killed from car bomb in Baghdad, then quickly onto a story (with pictures) of a woman trapped in her car underwater in FL for 12 hours.

Does anyone have a clue as to why an unfaithful basketball player is more worthy as the number one spot on headlines than the soldier who died?
