(So, Where is this comming from? Anyone heard about this?)

'Religious left' launched in US

A group of progressive Christians in the US have launched a new political movement to counter what they describe as the power of the religious right.

Thursday, 23 June, 2005, 16:49 GMT 17:49 UK

The Christian Alliance for Progress aims to "reclaim Christianity" and influence the political agenda. "We can no longer stand by and watch people speak hatred, division, war and greed in the name of our faith," said Patrick Mrotek, the Alliance's founder. The body joins other liberal religious groups formed around the 2004 election.

Key issues

Polls suggest that those who voted for President George W Bush on account of his values may have swung the election in his favour. "We are here because the language spoken by the religious right is Christian - this requires a uniquely Christian response," Mr Mrotek added. In particular, the Alliance hopes to speak out on issues such as stem cell research and abortion.

1. Excellent news!
I viewed a similar article in one of my local newspapers yesterday.

It's about time. :-)

4. I lost faith
A long time ago I gave up on what is supposed to be a christian faith because it was at such opposition with its own teachings. Never was it possible for the "heavy churches" to see or understand the "least of these". They stopped having any time or consideration for the poor and undernourished, because after all they could never pay a dollar towards the huge temple electric bill! They tossed their good values out their huge doors for the all mighty dollar and the power of the rich! They are still trying to create a needle large enough to accomodate a camel so they can claim the heavens for themselves. Should they succeed, then I would not want to make that trip in any case.
