Three new radio stations (Air America) poised to enter the Missoula market

Al Franken? On FM radio in Missoula?

That's the news from general manager Dave Cowan of Mount Sentinel Broadcasting LLC in Missoula.

Air America Radio, which features liberal talk host Franken, will be the cornerstone of one of three FM channels that owner Kevin Terry bought from the Federal Communications Commission at an auction late last year for a total of about $2 million. The channels will go on air sometime in July, Cowan said.

"All you have to do is look at the last election. Missoula County went 60-plus percent for John Kerry," Cowan said.

7. I thought Air America wouldn't last 6 months
It's failing! It's on the verge of collapse! Nobody wants to listen to anything the liberals have to say! They're all jumping off the boat like rats on the ship!

11. Desperate in Las Cruces, NM.....So. NM really has to get more
Democratic...even if they had a station in El Paso, a Dem town, it would really help....a lot of EP stations are heard up here (50 miles N)....We're too far from ABQ and Santa Fe

12. I lived in Cruces two years ago.
Is the AM talk radio still completely dominated by rightwing hacks? When I was there they played Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Savage, Michael Reagan, etc., but they had no liberal voices to counter them.

13. Congrats to Missoula DU'ers. You're really lucky.
You're going to love this, no doubt. I'll bet they'll mention your town on the shows, too as soon as you're hooked up.
