Cheney: Iraq will be 'enormous success story'

Thursday, June 23, 2005; Posted: 8:08 p.m. EDT (00:08 GMT)

Cheney: "We will succeed in Iraq, just like we did in Afghanistan."

.....Cheney said he had not read the so-called "Downing Street memo," a document written by a British official in the fall of 2002 suggesting that President Bush had already decided to remove Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, and that U.S. officials were over hyping intelligence about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction to build support for the policy.

However, the vice president said the premise of the memo -- that a decision to go to war had been made months before the March 2003 invasion -- was "wrong."

"Remember what happened after the supposed memo was written. We went to the United Nations. We got a unanimous vote out of the Security Council for a resolution calling on Saddam Hussein to come clean," he said.

"The president of the United States took advantage of every possibility to try to resolve this without having to use military force. It wasn't possible in this case."...........

16. I'll have to agree with Dick Cheney on this.
It will be a enormous success story. Who knows who will be telling the story though. In Afghanistan it is the poppy growers.

29. Hey, don't forget...
Bush declared victory there, so we must have won.

Just like Bush declaring combat operations were over in Iraq, so no more fighting, right?

8. It's already an enormous success.
Cheney and all the Neo-Con crew corporations are stealing money hand over fist to the tune of billions of dollars. If every one of our soldiers died over there tomorrow it's still a major score for them and they wouldn't care at all. The whole idea behind this war is not just to steal all of Iraq's oil and resources but to rob all the taxpayer's money here at home too. I'd say it's an overwhelming success for them because they are getting away with it and probably will never be called out.

19. This is why people should have no difficulty believing MIHOP. They
don't give a shit about Americans or any of the little people. Thank goodness they moved all the WTC CEOs to the same location Bush flew to on 9-11...one of their money grubbing pals might have gotten hurt!

10. Cheney's a better liar than Bush. But he believes his lies less.
Cheney knows he's doomed. He's just stalling the inevitable.

Keep our foot on that ugly, fat, lying neck of his.

12. What he is saying and what the memo says actually prove each other true.
The memo says the intelligence is being fixed around the idea of the war. He says they went to the UN with the proof that war was needed. But, the "proof" they used was the "fixed intelligence" from the memo. Why doesn't someone call him out on this when he says it?

14. Darth Cheney is an evil.lying Sociopath.
That SOB went to the CIA at least 10 times to twist their arms to get the Intell to fit the Bush Regime War On Iraq. My hope is that the rank and file CIA that got shit on by the Bush Regime will leak docs that prove beyond any doubt that the Bush Regime "fixed" the Intell, betrayed Amerika and lied to the Congress.

Since it talks about going to the UN as device to trip up Saddam.

If Mr. Cheney is going to add Afghanistan to his list of great American success stories, may I suggest he also include Vietnam and Little Bighorn?

The difference between him and Bush is that Cheney can sound like he knows what he's talking about, but he really doesn't.

But seriously -- how is it that the GOP accuse liberals of being fuzzyheaded and blind to bias, while Cheney is able to prance around spinning a fantasy world like this?

34. Dick Cheney can be counted on
which is why he is so well rewarded by the true controllers of this country. Counted on yes, to continue with the pathological cant which is now his true nature. He is a very sick, pathologically demented and sadistic creature who belongs in a safe house. He is never to be allowed in open society, not that he goes out much anyway.
