BBC- Africa rejects action on Zimbabwe
The African Union has rejected calls from the UK and the US to put pressure on Zimbabwe to stop its demolition of illegal houses and market stalls.
An AU spokesman told the BBC that it had many more serious problems to consider than Zimbabwe.

The UN says that 200,000 people have been made homeless. At least three children have been crushed to death.

Urging the AU to take action, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice described recent events as "tragic".

The opposition say the demolitions are meant to punish urban residents, who have rejected President Robert Mugabe in recent elections.

1. The AU has a good point actually
why do our governments get so hot under the collar about Mugabe, but do nothing about the war in Congo? Answer : because our arms companies are profiting handsomely from that particular slaughter, and what is good for business is good for us all...

3. Aaah
Did you guys forget the bill that was passed
Where the city can decide what to bulldozer for redevelopment.

I think this more a case of squatters and this is a very common problems in poorer countries. People cant afford houses so they just build themself one on any piece of land.

They do get compensate and even the land owner has to pay them.
Its call compassion.
