Bush Says Iraq War Protected U.S. from 'Madman'
Yahoo story here.

<snip>
PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites), in a new push to defend the war on Iraq (news - web sites) in face of mounting doubts, said on Thursday he acted to protect Americans from "madman" Saddam Hussein (news - web sites).

"I acted because I was not about to leave the security of the American people in the hands of a madman. I was not about to stand by and wait and trust in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein," Bush said in speech in New Hampshire, site of the first presidential primary next year.

"Who could possible think that the world would be better off with Saddam Hussein still in power?" he asked, laying down a rhetorical challenge to critics of his conduct of the war.

His speech had little in the way of new arguments, but he and others in the administration were to make their case repeatedly in coming days in the face of criticism that they exaggerated the threat Iraq posed to justify the war.

Right now, the highest rated stories are all in the "shark attack" and People Magazine category. While you're there (after rating this story) please click on the link to "Go to Highest Rated Stories" and push those pieces of crap down by giving them a "1."

This looks like a concerted effort by the propagandists to get the issues off the front page.

39. Believe It Or Not, We're About To Make Things Worse.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1058867,00.html

-SNIP-
A more substantial assault on Saddam's legacy is under way in the Republican Palace, where the occupation authority is making preparations to dismantle the food distribution system which gave free rations of flour, rice, cooking oil and other staples to every Iraqi.

Described by the UN as the world's most efficient food network, the system still keeps Iraqis from going hungry. But the US civilian administrator of Iraq, Paul Bremer, views it as a dangerous socialist anachronism. The coalition provisional authority (CPA) is planning to abolish it in January, despite warnings from its own technical experts that this could lead to hunger and riots.
-SNIP-

I dream of the day when we can ask, "Who could possible think that the world would be better off with George W Bush still in power?".

Thanks to Patriot_Spear for the Original post of the linked piece.

16. If ANYONE spouts this nonsense to you, remind them:
Iraq never attacked the US or it's interests.

From the end of the Gulf War until we invaded Iraq in 2003, not one American was injured or killed by Iraqis.

In the same time period, thousands of Iraqis were killed by our enforcement of our unilateral "no-fly zones".

We killed them and kept them down, and they didn't kill or attack us.

Saddam was not a madman, and posed no threat to the US, based on prior actions, or current ones.

32. Do you feel safer
because the USA killed thousands of Iraqi people? Maybe you feel safer because over 300 of our young soldiers have been killed. Perhaps it is the WMD's that have not been found, or the fact that Iraq can no longer attack us in 45 minutes. It could be that you feel safer because * took our nation to war when the vast majority of nations of the world opposed it. War is not the answer I didn’t think so in the 90's and I don't think so now. Inciting hatred toward the US does not make me feel safer. The passage of time will prove that *'s approach is wrong.

26. Not to mention the fact . . .
That for years after the Kurds were gassed, Daddy Bush said NOTHING about it. He didn't really give a damn.

Or perhaps we should mention that the only toxin found in Iraq to date was botulinin, which was among the toxins that the US sold Saddam AFTER he gassed the Kurds. Daddy Bush knew Saddam was using chem weapons, but allowed sales of anthrax, botulinin, bubonic plague and other nasty bacteria to be sold to Iraq EVEN AFTER HE KNEW.

Funny how the freepers forget that fact isn't it?

25. The truth is here
Hey pal,I think your name should be the_ the lie_ is_ here.

You are totally forgetting that we the US, rewarded Saddam with more chemicals and weapons, after it was found out that allegedly used on the Kurds, but we were only interested in Saddam killing Iranians at the time, and the kurds were nothing but collateral damge because he was our buy and the Iranians were our enemies. Our moral outrage was no existent at said time.
With this Bush admin, everything has been turned upside down,War means peace,Wrong is right,Peace activist are now regarded as anti-American and supporters of terrorism, restriction of individuals rights and freedoms, now means freedom and democracy.
Not find any WMD means it is proof of WMD,thats the reason Kay wants millions more to find WMD,that Bush has said that we already have proof of.
Now is'nt this a waste of money and time? why do we need to spend $$millions more and need 9 more months,to find proof of WMD,that Bush claims we already have in Kays latest findings report?
Know why? thats because the 70% brainwashed americans, who still believe that Saddam was responsible for 9 1 1, will believe whatever
garbage this self annointed, wanna be emperor spits out.
No matter how much money and time they spend, they will never be able to turn this lie and collosal farce of the century, and this most serious, and grevious of all acts, perpetuated upon mankind in resent history, they will Never be able to turn this lie into the truth,no even if they are now able to creating tons of evidence of WMD.
thats whay they need 9 more monts and all that money

31. You're missing the point....
..Bush did not sell the war as a great gamibt to 'save the Iraqi people'. He told us, and the world, that Saddam was going to nuke us, fly unmanned drones over the US spraying VX gas, had a gazillion tonnes of anthrax, had connections with AQ (and was connected somehow to 9/11). All of which are UNTRUE. In doing so he pissed off the world, ignored a very large chunk of the US public (not to mention the rest of the world) when he described 10 million peace protestors as a focus group (yet 300 folks protesting the removal of a granite religious carving represent some 'solid graasroots movement' worthy of full-day coverage on Faux). He called the UN a 'irrelevant debating society" - the same organization Bushco is demanding money and warm bodies from. Now, why is this? Why didn't Bush just say, let's take out Saddam cause he's a bad dude? Because being a bad dude is not generally viewed as a reason to trash the UN, put gawd knows how many US miltitary people in harms way, and to generally alienate the US from the rest of the world. It should have been handled with a UN MANDATE, and then with international CO-OPERATION.

Couldn't believe it when he told me, but he said him and his friends laugh their ass off at FAUX and its progandist bullshit - not to mention its ghoulish cast of Reich Wing characters - Sean Insanity, O' Reilly, Josh Gibson, Brit Hume, illustrious neocon guest stars like Ann-Thrax - it's all pure camp to them! He said they make a party of it - drawing Hitler mustaches on Insanity, goose-stepping across the room, giving the FAUX Seig Heil!! Perhaps there's a potential Rocky Horror Picture Show-esque feature film in FAUX News' future! Something I could see Christopher Guest may want to put together. It's all spring-time for Hitler stuff. 35. Saddam was contained. Diff topic. But related - RWers love to
go on about what would happen if "we liberals were in charge in 1941".

Wasn't the death camps merely just a rumor in most of the world until the war was nearly over?

I know that the German Jews knew about it, I just don't recall if the general population of the world was aware until the allies were marching through. Didn't Patton say he threw up when he saw one of the death camps?

The great FDR was president. One might say he was one of the fathers of modern economic liberalism.

In 1941, it was conservatives like Father Coughlin and Prescott Bush who didn't want to go to war against Hitler.

36. Doing things over and over--and looking for a different result?

is the definition of madness. A Messianic "vision" of God telling
President George W. Bush (personally) to attack without provocation--
a country that was no threat--to annihilate 6000 years of History
and Culture of an Ancient Civilization--to slaughter tens of
thousands of Iraqis who were just trying to survive sanctions--
and he calls Saddam a "Madman"? Bush really believes that God took
the time to whisper in his ear that this is Godly behaviour.
Bush has dragged the U.S. down a horrible, deadly path with no happy
ending for anyone. It is so perverted to see Russia becoming more
Democratic, and the U.S. becoming Totalitarian. For the first
time in History, TORTURE is ok in the United States. Imprisonment
without Due Process is "ok". Well, it's not ok. None of it is ok.

God, please take the time to speak to Bush loudly this time--and
tell him to stop the killing!

War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it. Every war when it comes, or before it comes, is represented not as a war but as an act of self-defense against a homicidal maniac.

Step 1) Sadam neutralizes America with his drones and nerve gas.

Step 2) Sadam comes over here and takes away everybody's freedoms!

What don't you understand?

Time for Fuax News. You should watch. They could explain it all to you.
