(DynCorp) Bend woman, 51, killed in Iraq by roadside bomb

BEND, Ore. - A roadside bomb in Iraq killed a Central Oregon woman working with a Texas firm as a police liaison officer, her employers said.
Deborah Dawn Klecker, 51, "sustained massive injuries to her pelvic area" Monday in the blast near Baghdad, about 40 yards from the armored Humvee she was in, according to a statement issued Tuesday by DynCorp International of Irving, Texas.

She is the first Oregon woman known to have died in the conflict.

Klecker, who lived south of Sunriver, had worked in Iraq for about two months advising Iraqi police officers who had completed their initial training.

Klecker was the 15th DynCorp International worker to be killed in Iraq, most of them Americans, said spokesman Greg Lagana. "We train all the Iraqi police," through a contract with the State Department and provide security for the U.S. diplomatic mission and some Iraqi ministries, he said.
