(Republican) Lawmaker's Wayward E-Mail Refers To Constituents As 'Idiots'
http://www.wftv.com/news/4665036/detail.html

A New York state lawmaker says he's embarrassed, after he mistakenly sent out an e-mail message that referred to his constituents as "idiots."

Assemblyman Willis Stephens says he thought he was sending the e-mail to an aide. Instead, he sent the note to nearly 300 people on an online discussion group that focuses on the community of Brewster.

The message included the comment that he was "just watching the idiots pontificate." Within an hour of sending the message Monday morning, Stephens sent another e-mail apologizing for the slip-up.

Stephens, a Republican, represents an area north of New York City.

What does it matter WHO the e-mail recipient was, the intended message remained the same.

The other 9 should be people who voted for him...

You know, the whole "hitting reply-all on that sensitive email by mistake" thing got to be so common, I've seen people argue that it must be the result of some kind of Freudian thing where you secretly *want* to let your boss know what an asshole he is and so your subconscious makes you hit the wrong key. If that's true, well, obviously this guy is very frustrated with the caliber of constituent NY can provide, and would no doubt be happier in some other profession.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

Typical words of wisdom from Stephens:
Tax Cuts Will Boost New York’s Economy
by Assemblyman Willis Stephens

On the wake of the federal income tax refund program recently signed into law and similar initiatives by Assembly Republicans, the upstate New York economy will soon be getting a boost from consumers armed with refund checks.

Last month, President George W. Bush signed into law a remarkable 10-year, $1.35 trillion federal income tax cut. Refund checks will include up to $300 for a single taxpayer and up to $600 for married couples filing jointly. New Yorkers will receive over $89 billion of this refund.

In addition to the tax cuts, the legislation will double the child credit, from $500 to $1,000. It will also eliminate the "marriage penalty" by increasing standard deductions and broadening the 15 percent tax bracket for joint filers.

This influx of money will spur local economies. Many taxpayers will be spending their rebate checks at local retail outlets. If as little as 20 percent of these checks is spent in New York businesses, hundreds of millions of dollars in new revenue will flow into our state economy. This increase will allow businesses to expand, strengthening the economy and promoting job growth.

42. It's a Yahoo Group run by a political adversary of Stephens
So the "idiots" he was watching pontificate were Dems/Liberals. Check it out:

"Michael Santos, a Brewster resident who created the discussion group, said he is a long time political adversary of Stephens. Stephens has called him a lot worse than a pontificating idiot, Santos, a Democratic village trustee in Brewster, said with a laugh.

"I guess I was taken a little aback at first," Santos said. "On the other hand, I should probably send Will a thank you note since my in-box is now full with requests from people asking to be members" of the e-mail group.
