Democrats fault Bush over Iraq link to Sept. 11

WASHINGTON, June 29 (Reuters) - Democrats on Wednesday challenged U.S. President George W. Bush's claim that America must stay the course in Iraq because of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, but his backers said the link was justified.

"I feel compelled ... to set the record straight about why we got into this war," said Sen. John Rockefeller of West Virginia, top Democrat on the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee.

"It had nothing to do with Osama bin Laden. It had nothing to do with al Qaeda. It had nothing to do with September 11th," Rockefeller told a news conference.

Rockefeller and other Democrats pointedly noted that the stated reason for U.S.-led invasion of Iraq was the claim that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, which have never been found.

3. The Iraq war has EVERYTHING to do with September 11

September 11 was the last straw.

Bush, Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Rumsfeld had long planned to move our middle eastern bases out of Saudi Arabia and into Iraq. Al Qaeda had long been sending "messages" to the Saudi Royal family and to the U.S. that they wanted us out of Saudi Arabia. The September 11 attacks were the final eviction notice. Bush and Co. had two options: 1) Face up to America's relationship with the Saudi Royals and Al Qaeda at large, or 2) Invade a relatively weak country, and duke it out there. They made the easier choice. I guess the third option was to reposition our forces back into the gulf, and other middle eastern bases.

Note the timeline... March 2003, we invade Iraq. April 2003, we pull all but 500 troops out of Saudi Arabia. (These troops weren't pulled out because they were needed for the Iraq invasion... they were redeployed to Qatar).

Osama bin Laden is no longer a concern because Bush and company have given into his demands. OBL was very specific about demanding we leave Saudi Arabia. And now, we have.

And it *was* because of September 11...

but Saddam and Iraqi's had nothing to do with planes flying into the WTC or the Pentagon.

every day, ten times a day. Do the same with the news that George's war on terror is the worst failure foisted on Americans since Vietnam.

Fit it in where it doesn't belong. Fit it into every answer to every question you're asked.

Democrats were better at handling terrorism before the Bush administration, and they are better now. say it as if our lives depended on it.

Because our lives DO depend on it.
