All 16 U.S. Troops Killed in Afghan Crash
KABUL, Afghanistan - The U.S. military confirmed Thursday that all 16 servicemembers aboard a special forces helicopter died when it crashed into a mountain ravine in eastern Afghanistan earlier this week, apparently after being shot down by a rocket-propelled grenade. The crash was the deadliest blow yet to American forces in Afghanistan grappling with an escalating insurgency. The remains of those killed were being recovered at the site in Kunar province where the MH-47 chopper went down Tuesday, the military said in a statement.

5. WRAPUP 1-US finds 16 dead from Afghan crash, others missing
<<SNIP>>

He said the bodies of all 16 U.S. servicemen who were on board had been recovered, but U.S. forces had not accounted for all the ground troops the helicopter had come to support.

8. so sad for the soldier who is now nothing
not even a number of the war dead. His parents must be devastated. I find it so interesting that they can just lie so easily and no one seems to notice. Seventeen on board. no survivors. sixteen dead.
:grr:

10. One report said he was supposed to have gotten on the chopper
but didn't.

So he who is now nothing is apparently in much better shape than those that are something.

11. but why does the headline say
"all 16 aboard died"? The two statements are diametrically opposed!

9. what about the missing commandos that called for the Heli??
how many and where are they? I read somewhere they may possibly have been abducted. Crap I wish we had real news instead of Pentagon propaganda readers. :(
