Attacks, disputed evidence leave other nations reluctant

IN PARIS, President Jacques Chirac, a leading opponent of the war, told the Czech president that sending French soldiers to Iraq “cannot be imagined in the current context.”
       He cited comments last week by his foreign minister, Dominique de Villepin, who said a French role was unthinkable without approval by the U.N. Security Council.
       India also rejected a U.S. request for peacekeepers for Iraq, saying Monday it would consider such a move only under a U.N. mandate. And German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said last week that his country would consider sending peacekeepers only if asked by an interim Iraqi government or the United Nations.
       “We are very consciously not with troops in Iraq,” German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer said Tuesday. “The German position about this did not change.”

My French friends are flabbergasted to think the U.S. wants French and German help in Iraq after all the dirty and immoral attacks on France and French products by the GOP, Bushies, and American Whore Media. The common French and German citizen's opinion of the U.S. could not penned even on the DU. I don't think you'll ever see their troops their unless our troops surrender and leave then the Europeans will go in and solve the hell the GOP/Bush Crime Family created. The entire GOP leadership should be prosecuted. Delay, Lott, Hastert, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Asscroft, Powell. I think Karen Hughes found out their dirty secrets and resigned because of what they were doing.

1. No relief in sight for our troops

No country is going to add troops....we cant reduce the number of our own with a growing guerrilla resistance. I dont see anything that is going to change this, we are really stretched thin. Guard, and reserves are exhausted.

One thing it may do, as nauseating as the quagmire is, the junta doesnt have the manpower to invade any more countries. I also wonder how exhausted and burned out these troops have to be ? Morale is really really bad. This war is growing more unpopular every day, in this country and in Iraq.

Way before Bush started killing Iraqis my French told me about 5 'occupations' of the British, Dutch, French... in 'recent' history.
1. In bla bla we needed 350,000 troops to control only 6 million citizens. And we still lost 35,000 soldiers.
2. In bla bla the British needed 200,000 to control half a million citizens. And they lost 25,000 soldiers.
3. Americas going to control 23,000,000 Iraqis with 150,000 soldiers. No way. (He told me this way before the slaughter started.)
It went on and on and I felt really stupid I didn't know any of these events in history.

Also, the French people don't hate us. It's more they feel sorry for us for being ignorant. I get along with them just fine and we have good time together.

I think I read somewhere that the countries you named plus a few others like El Salvador had committed to a total of 7,000 troops. When I mentioned this to my husband, he said he thought the U.S. would be paying for their tents, meals, etc.

The US will be paying the tab for our coalition. If Iraq was under a UN Mandate, then the money would come from a common fund that most countries donate to. Granted the US gives the largest share, but this
helps to make sure that US troops are not in harms way.

Without the UN Mandate, the US taxpayer will be footing the whole bill.

by a worked-out deal, bush and cheney (and ashcroft, rumsfeld, powell, rice, et al) resign, and prepare to face charges of treason. hastert accedes to the presidency and selects gore as his vp and then hastert resigns. after profuse and abject apologies on behalf of the nation gore then establishes a true coalition for PEACEKEEPING. we assist iraq in establishing any democratic SECULAR (yes, i said secular) government they wish, pay massive reparations and then get the fuck out. of course, gore and the justice dept and congress then proceed to investigate the selection and everything thereafter to its final conclusion (that should take a while). then we hang the lot of traitors, have a national year of mourning and education for the damage we have wrought over the last century or so. and we all live happily ever after working to build peace and prosperity for the planet.

you can tell me it won't happen, but you can't tell me it wouldn't work. besides, you got a better idea, because we are royally fucked right this moment.
