LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - International media conglomerate News Corp. Ltd. on Friday said it has signed a deal in principle to sell the storied Los Angeles Dodgers (news) baseball franchise to real estate developer Frank McCourt.

Now if we Michiganians could just convince Mike Ilitch to sell the Tigers to someone who wants to win with them.

Then again, before Ilitch purchased them, they were owned by Tom (Opus Dei, Domino's Pizza) Monaghan -- the scariest religio-whacko to roam Michigan since Father Charles Coughlin.
And Ilitch has been wonderful for the Red Wings.
And we folks here don't have to look at Monaghan any more -- so there is that...

Do you realize how hard it was to be owned by Fox?

How could I want the dodgers to succeed if it put money in Murdoch's pocket. Thank god our long citywide nightmare is finally over.
