An Iraqi boy selling ice-cream runs past a destroyed US humvee after a roadside bomb explosion in eastern Baghdad, yesterday. Witnesses said the vehicle was completely destroyed on Canal Highway at the entrance to the mainly Shiite Sadr City. The witnesses said two US soldiers were injured in the incident.

These two soldiers deserve more than "General Discussion". If the humvee was completely destroyed I'd imagine they're clinging to life. I made my own title. I posted a link that only has a picture. I searched the DU and see no report on their terrible incident. I broke all the DU rules. Sorry, but they deserve to be honored. If it were me, I wouldn't want to be forgotten. I wouldn't want to be snuck home at night. I wouldn't want to be buried at night. They deserve more and this is the only way I can honor them. I'm powerless in the face of Satan.

1. This whole thing is such a tragedy

If we are so proud of these brave men and women, why are we hiding them?

What a tragedy it all is -- the war, the Iraqis dying, the soldiers dying, the soldiers being forced to fight, the injured soldiers, the injured Iraqis, the mentally traumatized soldiers, the mentally traumatized Iraqis, the Iraqi families of those killed or wounded, the American families of those killed or wounded, the tortured and raped, the destruction of homes, the destruction of culturally significant buildings and artifacts, the destruction of buildings and bridges in general, the destruction of the environment, the polluted air from all the pipelines attacked, the people that breathe that air, the hate for the USA being fueled across the globe.

What a waste of human lives and money.

3. If you read the so-called "Iraqi Resistance"

reports each day on http://iraqwar.mirror-world.ru they usually claim (on average) that they've killed about 40 Americans every day.

The truth is somewhere in between the "few or no fatalities" we've been fed for about the last 10 days (ever since Chimp's latest "bring 'em on" speech) and the IR reports.

I AM beginning to believe someone has given the order to ratchet down the publicity so as to create an atmosphere in Red State America that no one is dying anymore. ANYTHING to get those recruits coming in the door again.
