Gas prices surge to record
http://money.cnn.com/2005/07/10/news/economy/gas_prices/index.htm?cnn=yes

Gas prices surged nearly a dime over the past two weeks to an all-time high of $2.31 per gallon of self-serve regular, a national survey said Sunday.

That beats the previous record, set April 8, by about 2 cents, said Trilby Lundberg, publisher of the Lundberg Survey.

"Crude oil prices have been working their way through to the pump, and gasoline demand growth in June -- over June 2004 -- fueled the price hikes," Lundberg said about the survey, which was taken July 8 and June 24.

Despite the higher prices, gasoline demand was 2.5 percent higher in June than it was a year ago, she said, citing the strong U.S. economy.

2. Remember when Bush blamed the Clinton Administration for high gas prices?
In 2000 when oil was going for....$35 A BARREL?!!! And the average price of gasoline was as high as....$1.60 A GALLON!!!!

My condolences for the people who did not vote for this.

For those who did, payback is a bitch and I hope all those pigs who drive SUV's and voted for Bush are feeling the huge hole in their wallets right now!!

I'm feeling the hole, but my SUV is part of my job.

Got no choice.

And I don't feel like a pig.

I feel like a victim.

24. Do a Google search
He said it in June of 2000 if not more than once. Google: Bush OPEC open spigot. You could do a second search and add jawbone for even more articles.

Arabs will be getting richer while Americans lose jobs because the economy slides.

13. Can't wait to see Repiglicans in smaller oinkmobiles.
What a blow to the egos of the dickless wonders in giant vehicles. Heh.

Detroit will try to compensate, of course. To ease the transition, they'll doubtless design small vehicles that *try* to look bigger--should be hilariously tasteless!

8. And this is why we should have listened to President CARTER
U.S President Jimmy Carter delivered this televised speech on April 18, 1977.

Tonight I want to have an unpleasant talk with you about a problem unprecedented in our history. With the exception of preventing war, this is the greatest challenge our country will face during our lifetimes. The energy crisis has not yet overwhelmed us, but it will if we do not act quickly.

It is a problem we will not solve in the next few years, and it is likely to get progressively worse through the rest of this century.

We must not be selfish or timid if we hope to have a decent world for our children and grandchildren.

We simply must balance our demand for energy with our rapidly shrinking resources. By acting now, we can control our future instead of letting the future control us.

19. Americans have already mentally accepted $3/gal.
most people who are in the market for a new car pretty much assume that it will be $3/gal. by the end of the year, based on conversations i'm hearing.

Oh for the days of 37 cent gas. I remember, in high school, we'd take up a collection and put in a dollar's worth of gas. :)

25. I was on the fence when my girlfriend told me
...I should get the dirt bike (motorcycle) so she would have a riding partner this summer. I said something like, that's $2,000 (used 250cc) I could be spending on food and mortgage.

She said "It's street legal, and gets 78 mpg."

The deal was thusly closed.
