A group of TennCare protesters is now on day 22 of a sit-in outside Governor Bredesen’s office, but they’re about to see some big changes.
The protestors are upset about the governor’s plan to cut tens of thousands of people off TennCare, and they have vowed to remain inside the state capitol until he meets their demands. <snip>
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has begun enforcing a “no food or water” rule in the public areas of the capitol. The Governor's press secretary said that rule has been violated since the protest began. <snip>
But Lisa Abell, one of those involved in the protest, said, “Today we've been told we can't have food and water in here, which is an issue for us that have medical needs such as diabetes, hypoglycemia or are on medication.”
