BREAKING: Top Dems Formally Demand Termination of Rove's Security
Clearance Massachusetts Rep. John Tierney (D) today announced that
all Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
today sent a letter to President Bush demanding that White House
Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove's security clearance be revoked in
the wake of revelations that he was involved in the leak of a covert
CIA operative's name. This is a major development - Democrats of all
stripes on the committee are coming together to do what's right. And
as I wrote yesterday, historical precedent shows that the absolute
least the White House must do is make sure a security risk like Rove
is not allowed access to anymore classified information. Let's see
what President Bush's formal response to this letter will be. You can
read the letter to Bush at: http://www.house.gov/tierney/press/HPSCI

1. I bet some moderate GOPers also support this demand. They've....
...almost taken it in the shorts from Rove as often as the Democrats.

they are clinging to the party talking points and he couldn't think of one who would speak out against Rove.

31. Some Repug in Arkansas spoke out against Rove. (He sounds nervous).
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 11:31 PM by Verve
"I think he should resign," said Jim Holt, a Republican state senator in Arkansas who is running for lieutenant governor. "I hope Karl Rove doesn't come gunning for me."

3. There won't be a response
This white house suffers from a terminal inability to tell the truth, admit guilt, or even cut its losses. They will all be hiding in the basement.

5. Response to what?
Something from the "workingforchange" web site? There is nothing in the corporate media for them to acknowledge or to respond to.

8. The White House will ignore it.
Letters and letters and letters and calls and calls and calls don't mean a thing unless the media picks it up and shows it to the people.

In fact, the Democrats would be better off talking about the latest reality television show or the possible reunion of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

Then, in passing, just drop in something about national security, obstruction of justice by the White House, and possible criminal indictments of the President's men.

30. Bush doesn't care about public opinion ........
Bush doesn't care about the opinion of any Dem legislators.
Bush only cares about money and personal power.
And besides, he has a "mandate". That means he can do anything he wants and nobody dare stop him.

And he has his finger on the nukes.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
July 13, 2005

Congressman Tierney Calls For Suspension of Rove’s Security Clearance and Access to Classified Information

Washington, DC - All Democrats on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) today joined Congressman John F. Tierney (D-MA), the only New England Member of HPSCI, to call on President George Bush to revoke White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove’s security clearances and access to classified information. In a letter to the President, all nine Democrats on the Committee urged him to take immediate action.

“It is outrageous that even though Mr. Rove has acknowledged, through his attorney, that he disclosed the identity of a covert intelligence officer, he continues to have access to our nation’s highest level of classified intelligence,” said Congressman John Tierney.

Bush and asked him to explain the Downing Street Minutes. Not a damn thing. When you can't lie...zip your lips. That seems to be the White House tactic.

17. What makes anyone think he has a security clearance?
Probably doesn't. Think of all the criminals in the WH and the administration - do they have clearances. Do you get a security clearance after you've been pardoned.

22. This is excellent
I don't get the threads calling for the dems to shut up about this. No offense, but their reasoning seems retarded. Go dems! Demand Rove be fired and have his clearances revoked for good! Any publicity on this issue is good publicity for the dems.

25. Murray Haas Exclusive: House Dems to Introduce Resolution of Inquiry
Mods: Once again, move if you must. Thanks.

--------------------------------------------------------

House Democrats tomorrow morning will introduce a formal resolution of inquiry demanding that the Bush administration turn over information and documents relating to Karl Rove and the Valerie Plame affair, according to congressional sources.

Among the members who will be calling for the inquiry are such Democrat heavyweights as Rep. Henry Waxman, the ranking minority member of the House Government Reform Committee; Rep. Tom Lantos, of California; and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, of Maryland.

The resolution effort was spareheaded by Rep. Rush Holt, of New Jersey, who is a senior Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Most importantly, according to one key congressional source, the effort "has the blessing of the Democratic leadership." House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi has signed on to support the effort, sources said.

... while KKKarl is under investigation for a security breach, then the Repubicans don't support national security.

If he keeps his security clearance, the terrorists win!
