London bombing victims remembered by 2 minute silence
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4679681.stm

A two-minute silence in memory of the dozens killed and hundreds injured in the London bombings has been held across Europe.
At least 48 people were killed and 700 were injured in the blasts. Four bombers are also believed to have died.

Thousands of people marked the silence at ceremonies across the UK. Buses and cabs came to a standstill.

People were urged to stand outside homes and offices. A vigil will be held at 1800 BST in Trafalgar Square.

1. Not all cabs!
A cab drove down the street outside my office (near Russell Square) during the two minutes. But there was no other traffic in this normally busy street, and pedestrians stopped. I don't go for these conspicuous displays myself, so I stayed indoors.

5. Just 1 cab?
That's pretty good going actually! I work just outside the M25 and there was still quite a few cars on the road during the 2 minute silence.

2. So the people stand around in silence
...meanwhile, basking in the shadows of righteous fortitude, Blair desperately tries to wipe the blood off his hands..

3. Fourth bomber = Jamaican-born Brit living in Buckinghamshire:
Meanwhile, police sources have indicated the fourth bomber was almost certainly Jamaican-born Lindsey Germaine, who lived in Buckinghamshire.

He is understood to have lived in the house in Aylesbury which was raided by forensic experts on Wednesday night.

6. Heh heh
"Members of the public observe two minutes' silence on the underground train platform at Oxford Circus".

Londoners don't talk on the tube anyway...
