Two Key Al Qaeda Leaders Captured In Iraq

Multi-National Forces captured two key Al Qaeda leaders while conducting a series of raids in Baghdad, military officials said Thursday.

Troops rounded up more than 30 suspected terrorists during the raids, officials said, including Abdulla Ibrahim Muhammed Hassan al Shadad, or Abu Abdul Aziz and Khamis Farhan Khalaf Abd al Fahdawi, or Abu Seba. Aziz, who military officials say are “close confidants” to terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

“Seba served as a senior lieutenant of Al Qaeda in Iraq,” the military said in a prepared releasea, “and is suspected in attacks against diplomats of Bahrain, Pakistan and the recent murder of Egyptian envoy, Ihab Salah al Din Ahmad al Sharif.”

“Al Qaida ordered the attacks against Arab diplomats in an effort to reduce support for the government of Iraq,” a military spokesman said.

3. Umm, let's see...
Does "close confidant" equate to "number three" on the list? Or have we run out of number threes?

10. I met someone who was related to Brigham Young once
and was impressed until I stopped and thought. Well, this sounds like a very analogous situation. To the Bushies, they are obviously all his children and right limb men...and they do multiply a lot!

6. Of course, the talking points didn't make the problem go away

and Shrub's polls are still tanking - so it's time to arrest the # 3 guy again, looks like this time they picked up two of them, just to be sure they could say he was the #3 guy.

Unless they actually got the # 11 guy and the # 8 guy, then figured that everyone would just notice that the difference between them equals the # 3 guy. Nah, way over the Freepers heads, OxyRush would have to repeat it 843 times before they caught on.

Speaking of which - what ever happened to his medical records? Shouldn't he be doing time with his friends in the misadminstration soon?

on edit: Hey asshats, why don't you go out and catch the #1 guy (ok, maybe he's actually #2 if Bin laden is still #1 - can you still be #1 if you're in the freezer?)

Updated: 7:14 p.m. ET March 2, 2004

With Tuesday’s attacks, Abu Musab Zarqawi, a Jordanian militant with ties to al-Qaida, is now blamed for more than 700 terrorist killings in Iraq.

But NBC News has learned that long before the war the Bush administration had several chances to wipe out his terrorist operation and perhaps kill Zarqawi himself — but never pulled the trigger.

In June 2002, U.S. officials say intelligence had revealed that Zarqawi and members of al-Qaida had set up a weapons lab at Kirma, in northern Iraq, producing deadly ricin and cyanide.

...

Military officials insist their case for attacking Zarqawi’s operation was airtight, but the administration feared destroying the terrorist camp in Iraq could undercut its case for war against Saddam.

14. Close Confidants - that's the best they can do?
Why I remember days when Number 3 men were being captured on an almost daily basis. And then there were right hand men, and henchmen...close confidants just doesn't seem very impressive.
