Parents group wants fines for Live 8 swear word

A parents group is demanding the ABC network be fined for violating broadcast standards because it failed to censor a swear word expressed during the recent Live 8 concert.

The Parents Television Council, founded in 1995, has asked the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to levy a fine because of the July 2 performance of Who Are You by The Who.

... Specifically, the line in question is the lyric "who the f**k are you?"

... The group filed an official complaint against the ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., WJLA, but has asked the commission to take action against all ABC stations.

I am using the Parents Television Council complaint form to say that this group's claim is insignificant. Live 8 as you know is meant to spread the knowledge of the poverty in Africa and as a means to pressure the G8 summit that was going on into giving aid. ABC cannot control what is said or done in a LIVE concert. I hope you see through the smokescreen cast by the PTC and ignore their claim. The PTC believes that the government should control what a child sees on television. Apparently they are too busy to monitor their children's television watching habits themselves. All the problems with violence and sex on TV would be solved if parents just sat down with their children and saw what they were watching. In the end its all about responsiblity. If the parents are too busy or lazy to monitor what their children watch, they shouldn't be screaming over what their children do see.

Page and Plant were as much the primary members of LZ as Daltry and Townsend were for the Who and they were able to sell out concerts under Plant/Page or whatever the tour was billed under.
