Wilson clarifies comment about wife's C-I-A role

WASHINGTON The husband of the C-I-A agent whose cover was blown is clearing up some confusion over a comment he made to C-N-N.

Joseph Wilson said yesterday that his wife, Valerie Plame, "was not a clandestine officer the day Bob Novak blew her identity."

Today, he says he was only pointing out that once her identity was blown, his wife lost her ability to be a covert agent. He says he wasn't suggesting that she had stopped working undercover for the C-I-A beforehand.

1. Anyone associated with her & still undercover had their cover blown
So, this is not just about Ms. Plame. But it's good that he clarified this. He had been saying that he couldn't speak about her status.

With thanks to Amazing Stories and Wm. Carter Sawtelle

2. In other words
Once her cover was blown, the word clandestine was inoperative and incorrect. Why the hell isn't Novak in prison?

4. I keep waitng and hoping....
"Why the hell isn't Novak in prison?"

Anyone know why the Capital Gang went off air recently? Does this have anything to do with Novak perhaps being in bigger trouble than would meet the eye? Or just wishful thinking...

3. People who are as bright
as Joe Wilson sometimes forget that not everyone is as smart as they are. People need stuff spelled out for them.

21. excellent point...I wonder what was it about SSecurity that caused him to
fail in his selling of their plan to the American people. It could be that selling garbage to a relatively educated & well-informed voting block, senior citizens.

7. Recommended. this is good. It appears that the bush spin machine
has prompted the pro democracy side to spell out this affair in plain every day language.

8. In his remarks to Blitzer, he was being careful not to BREAK THE LAW
Not that the press baffoons picked up on that at all. Sheesh! -they are easily confused!

Watch the sleeziest repubs scream about him grabbing "face time" just because he had to clean up their mess :grr:

Hang in there, Joe

9. I heard him when he said it to Blitzer and understood it
to mean the way he has explained it. I couldn't figure out why the newspeople were saying Wilson said his wife wasn't covert the day Nofacts outed her. I guess the Parrot Droppings Express (RNC) had reached them all.

10. Having listened and read the RNC talking points....
it is amazing at how badly they have screwed up trying to cover for Rove. I guess you have to play the cards you are dealt and then have a really bad hand.

12. MediaMatters explains it all
AP falsely reported Wilson "acknowledged his wife was no longer in an undercover job" when her identity was first publicly leaked

14. Would love to hear from Plame herself
regarding her status and what Brewster Jennings (CIA front company now disbanded) was doing that may have drawn WH fire.

This is Three Days of the Condor stuff...one day the CIA "company" Plame worked for is going about its business of tracking oil, drugs, nukes and the next day they are expendable and hanging out there on their own.

17. What I don't understand is Why Novak has a JOB!!!
Hasn't he abused his power and jeopardized the reputation of the company he has worked for!!!

What company keeps a slime ball like him on the payroll???

He should at the least be FIRED!!!

20. The CIA knew what Plame's status was at the time of the outing.
If she wasn't clandestine, they wouldn't have requested an investigation into who leaked her name to the press.
