WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney suffers from a mild case of esophagitis and some dilation of the arteries behind both knees, his office said Saturday after he completed an annual physical.

Cheney, 64, was at George Washington University Hospital for a colonoscopy, an upper endoscopy and vascular screening. The procedures completed his yearly medical checkup.

In the first part of the exam last week, an annual heart checkup produced good news for Cheney, who has had four heart attacks, though none since he become vice president in 2001.

and this is where I've seen him all three times. Last year for the first time at the Folks Festival in Lyons, where he was competing in the Songwriter Showcase. He was my favorite as soon as I heard his voice, but he didn't win that weekend. Then when his album came out, I caught him at a small theater in Boulder, then last week at a good-size club in Denver.

He seems like such a good guy, but a tortured soul. Then again, that's what makes for great artists.

Scenario A, Frist ascends to the Presidency after Bush resigns and appoints, my guess is--Rice. I still contend that if he runs in '08, he'll tap Fred Dalton Thompson as his running mate. Cheney the Vulture went to the hospital in Denver on some urgent business. I think that "diagnosis" was his "knees were hurting from an old Football injury".

There was a lot of skepticism here at the DU on that one. The hospital quickly stated, "no, no there was no issue about his heart, no way".

The question I have is, how long could the guy be dead before we would know about it? 1 week? 2 weeks? The guy is in terrible shape.
