La.-Trained Lawyers Find Niche in Iraq
Iraq's prosecution of insurgents is getting a helping hand from U.S. Army lawyers who were schooled in Louisiana, the only state that also has courts rooted in the French legal system that allows judges to act as inquisitors.

One of the lawyers, Capt. Dan Stigall, said he found similarities between the two systems as soon as he opened an Iraqi law book.

"It was interesting to open it up and say, 'Gosh, we do share so much,'" said Stigall, who earned his law degree at Louisiana State University and spent six months working with Iraq's courts last year.

We need them to look into Bolton, Rove, aWol, Cheney, Novak, Limbaugh, Jeb, Noelle, Neil, Hannity, O'Reilly, Abrams, North...

3. Congrat's on Tulane
Its a great school.

However, it doesn't teach the napolionic code at all. If you really want to practice law in LA, you'll be wise to take the civil law class at next door Loyola.

Note, I'm not a lawyer... but I've got a lot of family who are in New Orleans, and went to lawschool at Olemiss, Tulane, Loyola, and LSU. Olemiss and Tulane people had no problems with the National Bar Exam, but the LA specific almost required a seperate bar review.

4. Yes and
Scottish Law also follows the Napoleonic Code, which is based on Roman Law, as well as is Canonic Law.

5. Thanks :)
I was told that Tulane actually does have quite an extensive civil law program (?) at an orientation day this summer. I guess if I decide to study that area more in-depth, Loyola isn't far away!

6. check out pass/fail rates for different law schools in Louisiana
I used to grade the civil procedure bar exams. Green Wavers fare about 20 points behind in passing the bar compared to LSU. There is not enough emphasis on the civil code at Tulane, but its a good school and you might take a double dose of civil law bar review cramming courses before the bar exam.

Good luck and don't lose your soul :-) (i'm pretty sure I did)
