Iran, Iraq sign transportation cooperation agreement
http://www.payvand.com/news/05/jul/1136.html

Tehran, July 17, IRNA-Iran and Iraq signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Tehran on Sunday on expansion of rail, road, air and sea transportation between the two countries.

Iran's Minister of Transportation Mohammad Rahmati and his Iraqi counterpart Salam al-Maliki signed the MoU.

At the meeting, the Iranian minister said the MoU has placed emphasis on promotion of mutual cooperation in the fields of transportation, transit of goods and tourism between the two countries.

Referring to the deeply rooted commonalties between the two nations, he said the two sides' officials have agreed to remove visas requirement for drivers working for international companies engaged in transit of goods and passengers between the two countries.

Getting pretty tight there... This might throw a wrench in the PNAC plans.

1. Does Chalabi have a finger in this?
Wasn't he passing classified info to the Iranians? Any response from the Bushistas?

3. Seems as if the Western press isn't paying much attention to the
story. A strongly allied Iran & Iraq is the last thing the Oil barons want.

IMHO, the house of Saud would follow along now that China's a world player in the oil market.

2. What constitutes "Iraq" in this context?
Is Salam al-Maliki a member of the puppet govt.? If so, why would the US i.e. the puppet govt., agree to cooperate with Iran?

I thought Bush was going to invade Iran at the first opportunity.

Geez... just can't keep up anymore.

4. Heh... Our "puppet" govt.? Set up by the same people who thought
Chalabi was a great source and perfectly trustworth?

And had previously supported OBL & Saddam?

We're being governed by a cabal of greedy dolts.

Well, that goes without saying. But how come they/we are making nice with Iran?

6. I don't think "we" are....
This is the new Iraqi government's way of thumbing its collective nose at Washington. They want every bit of leverage they can get (this is all conjecture on my part).

Iran probably has Nukes and does have ties to Russia and China. They need every body they can get to watch their backs while the U.S. seems to be posturing for a 50 year stay.

I bet Bush is dancing a jig of happiness, being the peace and tranquillity type of guy he is and how much he loves the Iraqi people. Right?
