WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a break from the Democratic field, presidential candidate Joe Lieberman is promising to ensure that upper-income Americans pay more in taxes than they did before President Bush's record-breaking tax cuts.

Lieberman's proposal, due to be unveiled as part of a weeklong critique of Bush's policies, would at the same time reduce taxes for middle-class Americans, according to a senior campaign official.

14. 39.6 percent from 28 beginning at $150,000 will not sell - but at $200,000
it would sell - in my opinion-

From the Lieberman plan:

"A family with adjusted gross income of more than $150,000 could see its rate rise to 39.6 percent from 28 percent"

2. Finally Holy Joe says something that makes sense.
About three years too late, though.

3. This couldn't possibly be the same Lieberman who criticized Gore
for running a populist campaign in 2000. After all, running on a campaign promise to raise the taxes of the wealthy while lowering the taxes on the middle class might possibly be construed as waging class warfare. We know from his criticism of Gore that Lieberman would NEVER do that.

Further, after listening to Lieberman criticise Clark for changing his position on the Iraq resolution and subsequent war, he would NEVER change his position on ANYTHING simply to attract votes for an upcoming election, correct?

This must be a DIFFERENT Joe Lieberman....

9. Joe Lieberman didn't support the Bush tax cuts
Here's some friendly advice -- if you want people to respect your views, be sure to get your facts straight. Lieberman didn't vote for any of the Bush tax cuts, and he was among the first Democrats to call for the repealing the Bush tax cuts that benefit the wealthy. The tax cuts that Lieberman has wanted to keep in place -- the reduction in the rate of the lowest tax bracket from 15% to 10% and the expansion of the child tax credits -- were originally Democratic proposals.

10. Well, Joe certainly helped make enough rich people with bills he
sponsored several years back, that allowed scams like Enron and others to take place. Gives with one hand, and now he wants to take it back with the other. Isn't that just a tiny bit hypocritical? Oh, I forgot, he's running for President now, and we're supposed to forget all the things he's done in the past .....

12. this gives cover for the others
let's hear the republicans accuse Lieberman of waging class warfare, maybe they'll lose so much credibility we can win Congress back.

13. That should be a DNC platform issue
the Dems can't win party wide, not just the WH, until they have a solid, non-waivering platform like the Repugglies. But, kiddos to Lieberman. I have been harsh on him, I will give him credit when he sez soemthing good.
