Silly man. The U.S. has fingers in their pies, too.

The International Executive Service Corps has launched a new program, ALINC. The program, which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is designed to increase awareness of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA -
http://www.agoa.gov) among key stakeholders within AGOA eligible Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) states and to stimulate exports of eligible products. While AGOA serves as a catalyst for increasing exports from eligible Sub-Saharan African countries to the United States, ALINC is designed to accelerate completion of export trade transactions between African sellers and US buyers.

US, Tanzania AGOA efforts starting to pay-off
March 19, 2004
By Gerwin Faya
In its three years since the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was passed into law by the US Congress, the Act has set the stage for dramatic economic growth for Sub-Saharan countries. Some countries have made dramatic gains, but Tanzanian businessmen and women have yet to take full advantage of the AGOA vision, according to U.S. and Tanzanian sources.
But one company has seized the opportunities represented by AGOA and by the Government of Tanzania's Export Processing Zone policies: Star Apparels (T) Ltd. manufactures apparel for the export market, specifically the US market, and it is experiencing dramatic results.

Yemen
"Security remains a concern of foreign firms doing business in Yemen, particularly after the French-flagged oil tanker Limburg was attacked off the coast of Yemen on October 6, 2002. Kidnappings of foreigners, including oil workers, have been a problem. There have also been periodic attacks on an oil pipeline in the Marib region of eastern Yemen, which is operated by U.S.-based Hunt Oil."
