Bush Wants New Justice in Place by Oct.
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 12:01 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush said Monday he is reviewing potential candidates for the Supreme Court vacancy with the goal of ensuring a replacement for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor by the new court session in October.

''My desire is to get this process moving so that someone will be confirmed -- whoever he or she is -- will be confirmed by October,'' Bush said at a joint news conference with India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Bush indicated that he is already so familiar with some of the candidates that he does not need to interview them for the first high court vacancy in 11 years.

1. Bush needs to learn "you can't always get what you want"
Most people learn that at an earlier age.

2. Would we have let Richard Nixon make a SC appointment in 1974?
And, this is worse than Watergate.:eyes:

6. Nixon was a paragon of virtue compared to these war criminals.
Watergate was a petty misdemeanor compared to the crimes against humanity committed by these monsters.

3. Bullshit
What Chimpy 'wants' is a rubber stamp. What Chimpy 'wants' is to delay his nomination as long as possible and then try to stampede a confirmation through the Senate using his sycophantic herdsmen.

He's a lying, corrupt, indolent piece of human shit - devoid of intellectual integrity and moral character of any kind.

20. I wouldn't trust him to mow my lawn.
The detestible bottom-feeders in the political septic tank that've floated to the surface like Smirk, Delay, Hunter, Cunningham, Hayworth, Knollenberg, Cheney, Rove, Hannity, Limbaugh, and a swarm of others are wastes of protoplasm.

4. Then frickin' nominate someone Chimpy...!!!
Of course, they're delaying the nomination -- AND ALREADY SETTING A CONFIRMATION DEADLINE -- in order to shrink the period of time available for debate over the nominee. (as reported over the weekend here)

That will also make the Fundies very happy and make everyone else furious.

9. Bush To Pick Supreme Court Nominee by October
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Monday he is reviewing potential candidates for the Supreme Court vacancy with the goal of ensuring a replacement for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor by the new court session in October.

“My desire is to get this process moving so that someone will be confirmed — whoever he or she is — will be confirmed by October,” Bush said at a joint news conference with India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Bush indicated that he is already so familiar with some of the candidates that he does not need to interview them for the first high court vacancy in 11 years.

“I’ve got some people, perhaps in contention, that I’ve already spent time with, that I know. In other words, I’m familiar with some people that are being speculated about in the press. And so I don’t need to interview those. But of course I’m going to take a very thorough approach,” Bush said.

16. Any appointment of a true conservative
would cost far more capital than Bush has in the bank. I think Rove and Libby have made authorized withdrawals in excess of the precious balance.

17. Does Congress go on
recess again in August? That's just two more weeks if they do and that would leave the Senate only a month when they get back. They knew someone was going to retire and they had no list ready? This is just delay, they know who they want.
