http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.asp?S=3613285&nav=0RZEcJZV(FRANKFORT, Ky.) -- A special grand jury investigating personnel practices in the administration of Gov. Ernie Fletcher returned its first felony indictment Tuesday against Dan Druen, a transportation official already facing multiple misdemeanor charges.
The indictment charges Druen with tampering with a witness, which is punishable by one to five years in prison.
Druen is commissioner of administrative services in the Transportation Cabinet and is emerging as the central figure in the special grand jury investigation. Druen is the author of a so-called "hit list" of employees targeted for dismissal or reassignment in the cabinet.
The indictment charges Druen with attempting to influence the testimony of Cheryl Casey, his former executive assistant. The indictment alleges Druen "knowingly made false statements or practiced a fraud or deceit with the intent to affect the testimony" of Casey.
Our beloved repuke governor said "these partisan attacks aren't doing anything to move Kentucky forward".
