4. Right now, Kyl is polling weak.
Under 50% against an un-named opponent.

He's vulnerable, and with Janet all but reassured to win in 2006, her coattails may help Pedersen over the top.

6. I can't indentify any recent senate elections
where a Governor's coatails had any effect.

12. well, I am sure it's hard to measure
The simple fact of the matter is that if Janet's re-election is assured (The Republicans are still scrambling to find someone of any merit at all to put up against her), she can be a team player and appear with Pederson at campaign stops a LOT... also, with a heavy hitter like Janet up for re-election in a midterm cycle, it will help increase the Dem turnout, etc.

13. The case can be made that
since the race isn't seriously contested it will lower turnout both puke and Dem.

He's got a 49% approval rating.

In other words, he won't lose re-election.

8. Most pundits think Kyl CAN be taken.
And that is only one survey. Others differ. And Pederson has lots of money.Never discount that.

10. One good thing going for Pederson is Janet is up for re-election in 06
Janet Napolitano (one of the best governors in the Union) is up for re-election in 06 and is very, very popular in the state. Pederson could potentially ride her coattails to victory.

Nothing personal against Pederson, but I'd rather see Leonard Clark being able to run and to win :)
