Bush Goes Around Media to Make Iraq Case
President Bush Looks to Make Case on Iraq Through Outlets That Don't Normally Cover White House

The Associated Press

WASHINGTON Oct. 13 — President Bush, annoyed by what he considers the "filter" of news reporting, will seek to go around the press on Monday through television outlets that do not routinely cover the White House.

Bush was giving a series of interviews to make the case that the situation in Iraq is getting better.

The appearances are part of a week-old administration initiative against critics of the war and its aftermath. It's included speeches by Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and even first lady Laura Bush.

3. Will the hard hitting local media
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 02:08 PM by party_line
ask him about the "things are looking up" form letters from troops? (further exploitation of local markets) Or will the star power, faux patriotism and well documented intimidation tactics cow them? Another nailbiter!

Will the nat'ls AT LEAST quit obsessing over losing access that they already LOST?

Like, um, what? Small town newspapers? College papers? LBN? Truthout.org? Ah, I see, it's television outlets. Again I ask, like what?

That damn liberal press! Messing up his message. Sheesh...

8. When he's on the regular channels, people turn him off.
So he's going to launch a surprise attack. Maybe after the weather, he'll peek his head out from behind the weather map. A teletubbie will take it's head off, and... it's the President. Maybe he'll do "Trading Spaces" and decorate Cheney's "Undisclosed Location".

10. All of the media kisses Bush's ass
One story in 1000 might question something Bush does, and that's too many for him. He wants to control all of the media, not just 99%.

12. Bush Takes Aim At Media - CBS
It was the public relations equivalent of a declaration of war aimed at the national media: President Bush claiming the American people aren't getting the truth about Iraq.

"I'm mindful of the filter through which some news travels," Mr. Bush said, "and sometimes you just have to go over the heads of the filter and speak directly to the people. And that's what we'll continue to do."

In interviews with regional television outlets Monday ¡V which the White House feels will go easier on the president ¡V Mr. Bush all but ignored the daily attacks on U.S. troops and personnel and said the news about Iraq is good, reports CBS News Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts.

18. If things are going as well in Iraq as the Repukes say, then...
...wouldn't that indicate the $87 billion they're requesting isn't necessary after all?

Wouldn't that suggest all those American troops over there might as well come home?

All weekend long, I've heard one Repuke after another on TV tell how rosy things are in Baghdad: commerce is thriving, schools are teaching the children, people go about their daily lives feeling safe and secure.

Fine. Then let's take them at their word and spend the $87 billion here in the U.S. where commerce and schools are NOT thriving. Let's just assume Chimpy and the gang are right and tell them to get the soldiers out of the country which obviously doesn't need them.

19. Notice how the article didn't emntion WHAT outlets he was going on?
These Busheviks {b]loathe most of what was good about the Old American Republic, such as a Free and Independent Press.

Which is why they parasitized it and turned it into Corporate TV Pravda.

Which is why they have turned the Old American Republic into an Empire, which much better suits the Bushevik Totalitarian Temprement.

God Help those poor bastards who will be forced to live in Imperial Amerika in 2100.
