1. Note also that this is yet another report of a wounded man who died...
I hope that whole "at least 9,000 American soldiers have been killed becasue wounded who then die are not reported" bullsh!t can finally be put to rest.

Many condolences to the sailor's friends and family.

I've got a great idea on how to avoid even one more combat death -- leave Iraq!

5. I think it will be put to rest when the Administration starts coming clean
with all the casualty numbers.

People have a right to be suspect of them when they guard/manipulate the wounded tallies like they do.
Never mind the covering up of dead Iraqis.

6. It will never be put to rest
Our resident conspiricists on this issue will believe whatever the hell they want to believe, evidence be damned. And they'll keep posting the same absurd and debunked articles regarding same, at least 4 times a week.

2. It seems odd to call him a sailor
Would this be a naval medical officer, assigned to marines? Sorry if I got the designation wrong. A sailor dying in the desert - it somehow seems to encapsulate Bush's folly.

3. I've read that guys on ships, Navy, have been 'borrowed'

by the Marines to train Iraqis. It truly is twisted. In the meantime, my daughter-in-law's brother joined the Navy, thinking he'd be safe. :eyes: I wonder how many other folks have been duped?

Edit to add this link for further proof that this is happening: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4132411&mesg_id=4132411

8. Navy SeaBees (engineers and builders)
are often required to be in ground combat zones. You see, that is where people generally need shit built (like runways, etc.). This is no new development. And if you're gonna be on the ground in a combat zone, it's nice to be attached to Marines (oh, and Marines are technically under the department of the Navy, hence the Navy Jag interrogation of Colonel Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men), and - oh, I dunno - to get a bit of combat training??? If the nephew in that story didn't understand that SeaBees are used in combat areas, someone led him astray in recruiting/assignment. As I understand it, a good number of SeaBees are deployed in the Ramadi area, with the Marines.

In any case, the designation of Navy personnel, regardless of their role, is "sailor."

10. A Navy medical corpsman, attached to a Marine combat team
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 12:12 PM by Ernesto
The Marine Corps is part of the Navy.... Corpsman are virtually Marines: they train, eat, sleep & die with Marines. Some say that being a Corpsman attached to the Marines is the worst duty in the Navy. Corpsmen are inlisted, not officers.

13. Marines do not have their own medical people
the navy supplies them with 'Hospital Corpsmen'-the bravest of the brave. IMHO

11. Every time I hear or see that comment...
I get sick! Spoken like a gutless wonder who would be the first to pee in his pants, cry, and yell for mommy if he was within 500 miles of a combat situation! Everyone saw the terror and fear on the face of our 'Commander in Chief' in the "My Pet Goat" incident. He was paralyzed with fear. No real soldier, marine, etc. would ever say "Bring 'em on!"

12. Now what is a sailor doing in the middle of a desert? Oh - yeah -
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 04:27 PM by applegrove
Rumsfield planned the war himself and ignored all the generals battle plans.

When we ask Rumsfield this question - Rove will just say that Camels are the "ships of the desert" so the Navy had to be there to monitor them all.
