Recruiters Pursue Student Data (before parents can opt-out )
Facing pressure to recruit young volunteers during wartime, U.S. military recruiters have been increasing their efforts to identify potential recruits in Fairfax County high schools.

Over the past three months, recruiters have sought student names, addresses and phone numbers at the county's 25 high schools — before families have been given the opportunity to remove their student's name from the recruiting list.

...snip...

It is not clear if military recruiters have been wrongly allowed to access information about next year's student population.

In at least one recent case, however, a U.S. Marine Corps recruiter told a high school principal that she had already obtained student information from several other Fairfax County schools.

1. The USA has become a giant corporation that creates
humans, mostly of the ignorant, malleable, brainwashable kind, to use as battle fodder.

Ever hear about Channel One? The TV "news" that millions of kids watch in tens of thousands of school sacross the nation? Check it out! Brainwashing 101, for sure!

disregard of the law and of the rights of the citizens of this nation by this evil regime...

5. The Pentagon's database that collects information makes opt out moot
Edited on Thu Jul-21-05 01:31 PM by liveoaktx
I spoke to someone at Jamrs about this when I heard about the Pentagon teaming with BeNow to collect info on people from 16 up, without any type of permission, and, if someone doesn't want to be in the database, their record will be flagged, don't contact, but the record will still be there.

In fact, since the Pentagon is doing this, you'd almost have to get the kid as a freshman opting out, because if he or she gave okay for info even one time during school career, the info is gonna be in that Pentagon database.

The guy I spoke to said there was nothing to do about it except to get congress to change the law. That's the meat of it. Call all your Congress reps and insist that the law be changed about parental and personal rights, first, of allowing a parent to decide IF he or she wants kid info kept and second, IF it's all right to have minor information in a database without parental permission.

6. Get Caller ID
Daughter is in college. We got a call two weeks ago from the US Government on caller ID. Don't pick it up. I check ALL my calls with this. If I don't know who it is, I don't pick it up.

7. It costs lots extra per month, not to mention the cost of the device.
A lot of people can't afford to have this luxury. I couldn't.

8. Package
I got Optimum, Cable TV (300 channels), and Telephone for flat fee of $140 a month. May daughter went out and bought a $40 phone which has the caller ID function.

Not a lot really considering all I get. I also have unlimited long distance minutes too.

13. Gee - just chump change.
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 10:52 PM by TankLV
To most people, 100 dollars is not a small amount - it's a major expenditure.

Gee - "only" 140 a month - with money left over to spend ANOTHER 40 bucks on a phone!

I rest my case.

I've got 25 cents for ya - get a clue!
