3. It was a failure. Bush has a knack for creating failure.

The families worked very, very hard to make this work. They got further than I thought they would and worked harder than I ever could. But ultimately the administration used the Commission for its own purposes - they are truly masters of that. Under the guise of 'improving our intelligence capability' they used the 9/11 recommendations to install Porter Goss and purge opposition in the Ineliigence Community.

Fortunately, I will always remember Richard Clarke turning the tables on John Lehman - a small Galloway moment in an otherwise upsetting turn of events.
