The Indiana Democratic Party has asked for an ethics investigation into Gov. Mitch Daniels' use of his RV1 at a political fundraising event for a Republican state representative.
Daniels office did not immediately respond today to a request for comment.
The recreational vehicle, loaned to the state earlier this year by an Oregon firm for use as a traveling governor's office, is state property.
Indiana's ethics rules specify that "a state officer or employee shall not make use of state materials, funds, property, personnel, facilities or equipment for any purpose other than for official state business unless the use is expressly permitted by general written agency, departmental or institutional policy or regulation, considering the cost and benefit by such use."
