Bush Pays Respect to 'Sacrifices' in Iraq
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/sns-ap-bush-iraq,1,5785844.story?coll=chi-news-hed

On a day when two U.S. soldiers were killed in Iraq, President Bush used a Columbus Day speech Monday to pay tribute to soldiers who have died in that war and others.

"That's what's happening today: People are willing to sacrifice for the country they love," Bush said at the White House. "They remember the lessons of September 11th, 2001, and so do I."

"It's something we should never forget, especially the lessons of those who sacrificed, for lives lost," Bush said.

<snip>

Bush rarely speaks publicly about the deaths of American service members in Iraq, beyond saying that the nation mourns the losses.

And "can't" be bothered to interrupt his fund-raising efforts to attend a single funeral.

5. He can't raise money at a funeral
that would put the blame squarely where it lies if the chimp showed up for a funeral.

6. sept 11th
Why does the right always use Sept 11th as a justificatioin
to all of this
I am tired of them using that national tragedy
as a reason to invade another country
Especially when they havn't given us the answers about
why the first 3 hijacked jets were not intercepted
by our AirForce

7. Has he visited the families? The wounded?
So far as I know, he has never attended a funeral of any of the soldiers who have died in Iraq, that some speechwriter says he so loves. Walter Reed Army Hospital is right up the road from the White House. Has he visited the wounded? Anybody know? If not, why no outcry? What has been his sacrifice? Halliburton's? His daughters? (maybe less public shopping). What an insult. But seriously, has he even TELEPHONED any of the dead soldiers' families? Anybody know?

It's true. He gave that little blurb, and then he went golfing.

12. Which Hole Did He Start At?
The first or the nineteenth?

Either way, I'll never believe anything announced by ShrubCo without believing there's an ulterior motive somewhere we've haven't heard about.

9. mm-hmm
Notice that "sacrifice" was an intransitive verb. I heard this exact snippet on All Things Considered this afternoon, and I could swear there was the slightest hesitation when he used the term, not-so-neatly leaving off the "their lives." Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I do sense word-wizards at work, though. :)
