Bush Insists He's 'In Charge' of Iraq Policy
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 04:32 PM by khephra

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Monday rejected complaints from some members of Congress that he needs to assert more control over Iraq policy, saying, "The person who is in charge is me."

snip........

"The person who is in charge is me," Bush told Tribune Broadcasting when asked about the infighting and who was in charge.

Bush said his administration had a strategy and it was being carried out by U.S. civil administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, whose nickname is Jerry.

"In all due respect to politicians here in Washington, D.C., who make comments, they're just wrong about our strategy. We've had a strategy from the beginning, Jerry Bremer is running the strategy and we are making very good progress about the establishment of a free Iraq," Bush said.

1. I heard this on the radio this afternoon
I was driving home from class and I just burst out laughing.

Can you even imagine Clinton issuing a statement saying he was the person in charge?

If you have to stomp your foot and "insist" you're in charge...

you probably ain't.

So the strategy from the beginning was to fire Jay Garner? Wow.. that's a brilliant strategy.

The li'l guy wants to say he is in charge, then great - poof- he is in charge. Problem is, its all fucked up. Its a colossal failure, it shouldn't have been entered into in the first place, we have destroyed our international reputation, our military is at horrible risk, the citizens of Iraq are at grave risk, and we are pumpimg money into that hellhole at an alarming rate.

You're in charge, Georgie. Time to fire yourself because this is a clusterfuck that is begging for new leadership.

on edit - doesn't he look like shit? I'm guessing he is drinking again. He looks kinda fat in the middle. Guess those 1000$ suits help a lot - but you can't hide it in a golf shirt.

7. Geez, he can't even get his insults right...
The correct wording is "with all due respect" which usually means you don't respect. It is NOT "in all due respect". What the heck does that mean? lol

Is junior trying to fix (an idea) in someone's mind by reemphasis and repetition?

Oh I got it, that fucking idiot Bill Schneider will lay his omnipotent wisdom on the real government stamped morons, and the poll numbers will prove junior's in charge. Where did CNN ever find that schmuck?

19. Does this mean he can answer any of these four questions?
1. Who made the decision to use a campaign of lies to market the invasion of Iraq? (Turd Blossom Rove? Whistle Ass? God? Cheney? Roger Ailes? Rush Limbaugh? Andy Card? The Lump in the Bed? Someone else?)

2. When was that decision made? (Before or after January 20, 2001? Or September 11, 2001? Or March, 2002 when Bush told three Senators in Rice's office: "Fuck Saddam. We're taking him out."? Or September 2002 when Andy Card said about trying to sell the American people on the invasion of Iraq: "From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August."? Or when Card formed the White House Iraq Group?)

3. Why was that decision made? (Political reasons? Financial reasons? Personal reasons? Religious reasons? Other reasons?)

4.Who made the decision to have the information about Valerie Plame leaked to the press? (Turd Blossom Rove? Whistle Ass? God? Cheney? Roger Ailes? Rush Limbaugh? Andy Card? The Lump in the Bed? Someone else?)

If Whistle Ass can't answer any of these questions, then I want to know who told him to say that he was in charge of Iraq policy.

21. Hey, it's important to mark the sites, but copy the reports.
Dubya says he's in charge. That means that he should be accountable for what happens. It's not what some underling did (as in 'who leaked the info about Plame?'), the buck stops with Dubya. Of course, later he'll likely claim that he never accepted accountability nor control. Let's see whether we can get people to remember later that he said on October 13 that HE is in charge.

Bush in recent weeks has been dropping in the polls as voters express concern about Iraq and the uncertain economy.

35. Well, that's reassuring -- NOT!
However, as others have said, keep this little tantrum bookmarked, and be ready to send it on to your local newspapers (I'm lookin' at YOU, Oregonian!) the next time you see some excuse-laden editorial or analysis telling us all that Lil George isn't really responsible for the mess in Iraq. Nope, it's all George's. Every last bit of it.

And now, connecting a couple more dots: Who feels better knowing that the man in charge of all this can't even make time to read the morning news or policy papers? He has to wait for other folks to read things (he assumes), and then they boil it down for him. Oh yeah; that tightness in my chest and pins and needles radiating down my left arm is just my body's way of saying "all is well."
