Spokesman for S.C. governor arrested

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A spokesman for Gov. Mark Sanford was arrested after he kicked open the door at his home and shoved his fiancee into furniture, police said.

Will Folks, 30, turned himself in to police Saturday and was charged with criminal domestic violence. He was released on a personal recognizance bond.

Folks' fiancee, Ashlee Smith, a lobbyist, received a slight injury to her back but did not receive medical attention, an investigative report shows.

Smith told police that Folks kicked the door down but declined to press domestic violence charges. However, police became suspicious and investigated.

1. And he is leaving to the private sector for "more anonymity" in his life
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Gov. Mark Sanford's spokesman Will Folks said Wednesday he plans to leave his post Aug. 1 to work in the private sector.

Folks said he will revive his political consulting company, Viewpolitik LLC. Folks, who worked on Sanford's election campaign, briefly left the governor's transition team to establish the company in December 2002 but ended up returning to the governor's office.

Folks said he decided to leave Sanford's office now because he needs "a little anonymity back in life." He sent Sanford a resignation letter on July 14.

"After four years of being under the gun and on the spot 24 hours a day, it's time for a new, hopefully less intrusive, chapter of my life," Folks told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

4. Since they see a Bolton-type personality as great for diplomacy

...and Folks, showing how he can get "tough" with lobbyists might make his consulting Co boom.

Wonder what his advice would be on this particular problem? :)

9. It's not really hypocrisy.
You don't really have to scratch the surface of them too hard to see that all they have been caught at is really the meat 'n taters of their agenda.

11. what's with men and kicking down women's doors?

this seems to be a favorite tactic of men.

I've been there and done that - had a man trying to kick down my bedroom door.

the cops deal with this, I would think, daily.

it just sets men off when a woman locks them out. they lose all control of themselves. jerks.

13. I reckon he'll be saying farewell to any guns he might own...
Persons convicted of domestic violence -- even a misdemeanor charge -- are ineligble to own firearms nowadays.

(Well -- assuming he is convicted.)
