Clark's Aide Called to Military Duty
Reuters
Monday, October 13, 2003; 8:07 PM

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Democratic U.S. presidential candidate Ret. Gen. Wesley Clark is losing his personal lawyer and campaign driver, who has been summoned to active military duty in the Middle East, possibly Iraq, campaign officials said Monday.

John C. Edwards, a lieutenant colonel in the 39th Infantry Brigade of the Arkansas National Guard, is to leave Friday for Jordan, then expects to go to Iraq "or wherever, as directed," Edwards said. Clark has sternly criticized the U.S. military action in Iraq.

Edwards was among the first people to sign on with the Clark campaign, having handled Clark's legal affairs since the candidate left military service in 2000 and returned to Arkansas to become a businessman.

Edwards frequently drove Clark to various campaign events in Little Rock, allowing the candidate to study his remarks and complete paperwork.

7. I've said it before, I'll say it again:
The dumbest move these traitors could make would be to give weapons to the very people they have betrayed.

5. Thats what happens when you join the National Guard...
Tough to lose one of your first supporters but military service often brings unpleasant responsibilities.

9. I think that it is
Everything at high levels in the Army is politicized. I can't imagine the rank and file wanting to weaken the best chance the Army has to protect itself from the mauling it is receiving from the neo con extremists and their radical down-sizing and privatizing ideas. The Army is being carved up so that contractors and oil companies can turn DOD into an east India company protecting contractor interests abroad and little else.

14. Sure could be a fix
And then there is the worry about the military basicly owning the bodies of personell; can give whatever vaccinations it wants to and so on. So, do I need tinfoil armour to suggest they could have this guy strapped down and given drugs to make him tell them what he knows about what Clark knows? I mean, he has been CLark's lawyer and privy to private info which is protected by attorney/client privlidge.

OK, OK, :tinfoilhat: but still..... They outted a NOC, why not drug a personal lawyer to a political opponent?

10. Hmm… BushCo is taking away Clark's aide.
Looks like BushCo may be trying to do whatever they can throw roadblocks down in front of our Democratic contenders. Considering the crap they pull all the time, I'm suprised this didn't happen before now.
