5. more deaths buried in this article
In other incidents of violence, at least five people were killed across Iraq on Sunday, while a US marine was killed by a roadside bomb near the Jordanian border on Saturday.

The marine's death brings the total number of US military personnel killed in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion to 1,766, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.

An Iraq lieutenant colonel in charge of a police station in Baghdad was gunned down on his way to work and another policeman killed by mortar fire, police said.

Another police lieutenant colonel was also killed on his way to work in the northern oil centre of Kirkuk.

In another incident a young girl was killed and six people were wounded when a mini-bus they were travelling in hit a roadside bomb in Iskandariyah, south of Baghdad, while six policemen were wounded in clashes in the capital.

7. Is the world outraged right now? Are they shocked?
Or is everyone pretty immune to death and destruction in the Middle East. Where is the outcry (outside of DU)? Where are the fundraisers? Oh, I forgot, "war is messy"* (*spoken by our own Donald "if I only had a heart" Rumsfeld).

The picture accompanying the story says it all. Day after day, bomb after bomb, death after death as * packs to go to the ranch for a month. "Now, watch this drive".

11. A lot of family members are angry that their loved ones
re-sign with the promise of up to $30,000.00. The last article I read about this reported that the soldiers only get about $3,500 now.
Think they will get the balance if and when they get back home? I don't.

12. I was thinking of the Iraqi police recruits
But you're right, the same reasoning applies to U.S. military.

10. This is going to turn into another viet nam - they'll pick and choose
whenever they want to kill - that unfortunately includes the US. Just because we haven't had an attack since 2001 - is this some kind of progress made or something?

Don't forget, they hit the WTC in 1993 - then waited until 2001 to do it the right way 8 years later - so repukes figure we haven't had an attack so what? -we're on a roll?

Rovegate-DSM and don't forget it!!
