8. CNN, on the crawler, they mentioned the suicides
Maybe the truth will emerge in spite of the Bush junta propaganda machine. There was also mention of the fake letters.

3. "Catching Americans is easier than catching fish"
http://armytimes.com/story.php?f=1-292925-2169332.php

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The fisherman had just decided to take up arms, and he shook with fear as the American convoy approached his hiding place. As he later told it, he fired a rocket-propelled grenade into a Humvee and ran away as fast as he could.

Nobody gave chase, he said, and in the time that has passed since that April attack, his band of seven guerrillas has slipped into an easy rhythm of attacking American convoys every few days.

“I catch fish in the morning and Americans at night,” he said. “Catching Americans is easier than catching fish.”

He wouldn’t give his real name, instead calling himself Salahuddin, the name of the 12th century Muslim liberator known to the West as Saladin. His account, which mixes verifiable facts with extravagant claims, gives a rare insight into the secret world of Iraq’s anti-American resistance, which has killed more than 60 troops since May 1.

He insisted he wasn’t motivated by any loyalty to Saddam Hussein or principled Islamic opposition to the U.S. presence. He said he was driven by what he sees as the Americans’ heavy-handed treatment of ordinary Iraqis during anti-guerrilla operations.

Military officials say groups such as the fisherman’s are behind much of the resistance.

4. Perhaps this is one of the threatened kidnappings . . .
Remember 3 or 4 weeks ago when the interview with a "resistance leader" appeared saying that they would begin kidnapping soldiers, etc.? Perhaps this is the first round of that activity?

7. Two more were killed in a traffic accident
so make it 332 and climbing. Like Saigon said these aren't combat deaths so the media will still say there's only been 96 deaths since gw codpiece* did his little stunt.

The media needs their feet put to the fire on this.

9. I hate this stuff
Thanks to all, for the props (Freddie57 and all)---they are unnecessary.

Every morning I live a bad dream about this. I have seen it before. It is like Viet-Nam is still going on.

A lot of people I know who are in their late 50's & 60's are having flashbacks and a real bad time. Their children and granchildren are participating, and are accomplishing nothing.

I know a lot of people involved, and NO-ONE, I know thinks this war is a good thing.

It reminds me of the old line--" Dying in a war is not glorious, You will die like a dog for no good reason."

All the deaths in Viet-Nam accomplished nothing. I dare anyone here to a debate, on that statement.

10. No debate here
When you walk down to the bottom of that memorial, it is like walking into a gigantic grave. Awfully, awfully sad.
