'Millennium bomber' gets 22 years

Ahmed Ressam, the Algerian man convicted of plotting to blow up Los
Angeles airport five years ago, has been sentenced to 22 years in
prison.

Ressam was arrested as he crossed the US-Canadian border with
explosives on the eve of the new millennium.

He was convicted in 2001 of conspiracy to commit a terrorist act and
smuggling explosives, but was not sentenced because he was helping the
authorities.

He stopped co-operating in 2003 after being placed in solitary
confinement.

2. Clinton learned from 1993. repukes too busy pointing fingers...
If * was ever serious on trrorism, it wasn't until long after 9/11/01. He'd 9 months, and about a 1 month warning period when lots of information presented itself of an impending attack. But it was more fun to keep blaming the previous administration for everything under the sun... even afterward.

3. The sentencing judge made some nice comments....
"I would suggest that the message to the world from today's sentencing is that our courts have not abandoned our commitment to the ideals that set our nation apart. We can deal with the threats to our national security without denying the accused fundamental constitutional protections.

"Despite the fact that Mr. Ressam is not an American citizen and despite the fact that he entered this country intent upon killing American citizens, he received an effective, vigorous defense, and the opportunity to have his guilt or innocence determined by a jury of 12 ordinary citizens....U.S. District Judge John C. *We seem to have a better rate of catching the culprits and their co-conspirators when the intelligence services take the lead versus the current military methods of invade & occupy.
