TORONTO (AP) - A U.S. security official said Wednesday it will use
wireless technology at five border posts with Canada and Mexico to
track foreigners driving in and out of the United States.

Bob Mocny of the Department of Homeland Security said wireless chips
for vehicles would become mandatory at designated border crossings in
Canada and Mexico as of Aug. 4.

Border authorities will provide a chip that drivers will put on the
dashboard of vehicles.

Antennas have been installed at the border crossings at Thousand
Islands Bridge in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., and Blaine, Wash. crossings
for the Pacific Highway and Peace Arch, Mocny said. The technology
also will be launched next week at two crossings between Mexico and
Nogales, Ariz.

with a bloody chainsaw, a homemade sword, an axe a knife and a set of brass knuckles in their hands and a wild-eyed look on their face shows up-if its an American-let him in.

6.  Homeland Insecurity. Another SNAFU along the US/Canadian border
http://www.conjur.com/blog/2005/07/03/homeland-insecurity-another-snafu-along-the-uscanadian-border/

First we had the case of the bloodied-chainsaw-wielding murderer being let across the border from Canada. I mean, the U.S. is holding suspected “terrorists” in Guantanamo and other locations for over 3 years in some cases with no charges but they couldn’t hold a guy who was carrying a bloody chainsaw, knife, hatchet, brass knuckles, and a sword for more than a few hours. Maybe it’s because he looked like a nice guy:

Mr. Nice-Guy Chainsaw Murderer

Now we have:

Firetruck snafu shows border is not secure
http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_action=doc&p_docid=10B156CBD54D1830&p_docnum=1&p_theme=gannett&s_site=thetimesherald&p_product=PTHB

he report of a stolen firetruck getting over the Blue Water Bridge from Canada provided a lot of laughs last week. News organizations and Web sites across the United States and Canada picked up the bizarre story.

But the matter is serious and shows a big problem that must be addressed concerning border security at the bridge.

The incident was reported to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department at 7:23 a.m. June 19. The firetruck wasn’t found until nearly two hours later, at 9:04 a.m. in Riley Township, more than 20 miles from the bridge.

Just who the hell is in charge of things at DHS? I think the Keystone Cops could do a better job!

2. So What Happens
When a male and female foreigner have to go to the washroom at the same time?
Who gets to take the chip?

this is awesome security, well done. now we can track and control the people we already know are safe. too bad it won't stop even one serious terrorist.

5. What's to prevent someone with malicious intent from temporarily
moving the chip to another location? Or perhaps they change vehicles, parking the chipped one and using another?

Seems like it's just a way for some chip manufacturer to sell lotsa chips $$$ to the U.S. government.

Perhaps it should be a sub-cutaneous Digital Angel? What's to prevent those from being cut out?

What about those who don't use the borders? Just seems like a stupid scheme to me.
