More bombers may try to strike-London police chief

LONDON, July 28 (Reuters) - London's police chief warned Britons on Thursday that more cells of would-be bombers could strike as police made nine arrests in their hunt for the men behind failed attacks on the city's transport system last week.

Commissioner Ian Blair said the capital had been lucky that bombs on three underground trains and a bus had not exploded fully on July 21. Three men still wanted for the attacks remained a danger and might not be the only threat, he said.

"It does remain possible that those at large will strike again. It does also remain possible that there are other cells that are capable and intent on striking again," he told a police authority meeting.

The failed attacks came exactly two weeks after another team of suicide bombers killed 52 people in the capital. Police say four British Muslims carried out those bombings, which they have linked to al Qaeda.

I am commenting that this "threat" is likely to result in the death of more "non white" people who the police decide are "suspects".

our police have an good record of not routinely killing ethnic minorities.

In this case Mr Menezes, not only would he be considered white european in any form of ethnic minority monitoring, (from the photos I've seen)he is not particularly dark skinned.

7. Sorry,

while I believe that the London police have a much better track record than most major American police departments, they have started the typical police MO.

They fucked up and killed someone WITHOUT justifiable provocation. They then IMMEDIATELY started lying about the incident (he was wearing a bulky coat, he jumped the barrier, etc) in order to cover up their mistake. They then ARROGANTLY assert that they will continue to "shoot to kill" regardless of the consequences.

Any death after this will be a summary execution, without regard for guilt or innocence. If the police were GENUINELY concerned about him having a bomb, why let him on a bus and into the tube station.

I am not some clueless American commenting on British police procdeure. I have been to London and have friends and family in the UK, Northern Ireland and Ireland.

UK voters returned Blair to office and he has paid NO political penalty for waging an illegal war that has no come home to roost and is killing British civilians.

Unlike the US, the liberals control the government in the UK, but like the US GOP, party loyalty outweighs law and morality.
