DeLay Critic to Run for Governor in Texas

A vocal critic of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay announced in an e-mail to supporters Thursday that he will challenge Gov. Rick Perry in 2006.

Democrat Chris Bell was elected to the U.S. House in 2002 but lost his seat to Democrat Al Green last year after his district was redrawn.

Bell is best known for accusing DeLay of ethical violations. DeLay, a Republican, was instrumental in the GOP-led Texas congressional redistricting effort that resulted in Bell's defeat.

Although DeLay was admonished by the House, Bell was criticized for exaggerating misconduct allegations against the GOP leader.

1. You can't "exaggerate"
delay's misconduct.

I read scotty mcclellen's mother is running for governor of Texas?

2. Yes, unfortunately
I think Bell (or another good Dem candidate) would have a chance against the increasingly unpopular Governor Goodhair (Rick Perry). Carole Keeton "Tough Grandma" Strayhorn (or whatever her full name is - can't keep it straight) will most likely beat Perry in the repub primary. She will be a harder Repub candidate to run against.

3. If Perry runs
He will rap up the right-wing neocon vote in the primaries. It will be interesting to see if that's good enough to win the nomination. If it is, Bell could face Perry. I'm still not convinced Bell could beat Perry. Sure wish a big name would run, but we're pretty low on big names lately.

4. It will be an interesting contest if he runs
Who's got the upper hand in Texas - the right-wing neocons or common sense (as much common sense as a Republican can have that is) Republicans?

6. Scott McClellan's mom
If she beats Perry in the primaries, just wait till you non-Texans get a load of her.

5. amen to that!
In fact, when it's all said and done, DeLay's corruption is probably much worse than what we already know about- he's a snake.
