DETAINEE DIES AT CAMP BUCCA

BAGHDAD, Iraq – A 30-year-old male security detainee at Camp Bucca died July 27 as a result of renal failure and other organ failure due to chronic malaria.

The detainee was admitted to the field hospital on July 3 following complaints of nausea. An attending physician pronounced him dead at 3:30 p.m. July 27 at the field hospital.

Officials at the hospital believe the detainee contracted malaria prior to arriving at Camp Bucca in December 2004. The detainee was not diagnosed until recently as he did not exhibit any symptoms. The detainee did not pose a contagious hazard to other detainees.

The detainee’s remains will be transferred to the family upon completion of an autopsy. This is standing procedure for all detainees who die while in custody of Coalition Forces.

The detainee was being held at Camp Bucca as a threat to the security of Iraq. Camp Bucca is located in the southeastern region of Iraq and holds more than 6,000 detainees.

At the onset of malaria, bouts of chills (ague) and fever lasting several hours and occurring every three or four days are the usual symptoms. If the disease is not treated, the spleen and the liver become enlarged, anemia develops, and jaundice appears. Death may occur from general debility, anemia, or clogging of the vessels of cerebral tissues by affected red blood cells. Cerebral malaria is most commonly seen in infants, pregnant women, and nonimmune travelers to endemic areas.

Look at the point connecting to the Persian Gulf, if you go just a little bit above, that is where Camp Bucca is located (Umm Qsar) - an area not without risk of malaria as we can plainly see

So we can see that malaria was a concern, and that the military was more than aware of potential cases/outbreaks.

Then why wasn't more attention paid to this detainee? Why wasn't he tested? A simple blood sample under a microscope would have shown if he had it or not...why aren't ALL detainees tested for malaria at Bucca, considering it's located in an area at risk for malaria?

4. Truly. Why doesn't our liberal press ever cover the hard work

that goes into preparing that lovely lemon chicken they fix for these ungrateful, christless people? They work themselves into an early grave trying to show heathens the refined, graceful touches we Amurkins prefer in our daily lives so they will be encouraged to give up their rough ways.

After all, if they were as mannerly as we are, _{George W. Bush} wouldn't have us kill them, would he?

Someone dies of kidney failure and showed no symptoms.
That's pure BS. More likely nobody paid any attention and I don't suppose they get much medical help. (Tinfoil hat comment...maybe they told him he could get some help just as soon as he answers a few questions....but unfortunately he didn't answer soon enough...Ah ha!)Tell me another one!
