Bush Plans to Return to Ranch in August
WASHINGTON (AP) - Following the Congress in a midsummer exodus, President Bush plans a Texas ranch respite for several weeks, while Supreme Court nominee John Roberts has August to think about Senate confirmation hearings.

(snip)

It will be the president's 50th trip to the ranch since he was elected nearly five years ago.

McClellan said Bush looks forward to being able to ``shed the coat and tie'' at his more casual home near the small town of Crawford, Texas. Bush plans to travel to seven states from the ranch and hold at least 10 events to tout his agenda, including the war on terror and his economic priorities.

(snip)

Despite the stifling heat, Bush typically likes to spend time outdoors when he's at his ranch, doing things like clearing brush and riding his bike. McClellan said Bush will use that time to encourage other Americans to get physically active.

They won't let him do anything else for fear that he will hurt himself.

But 'clearing brush' makes him feel more important.

86. I don't really believe he likes to "clear brush"
I've read it's actually a PR ploy to make people think he's a "cowboy", or at least a "ranch hand"; a Good Ole Boy that the Working Man can identify with.

I've read his Public Relations people thought it would be a good idea to project this type of image.

There's nothing "Working class" about George Bush. There's no CLASS, period. He comes from a criminal family which spans several generations.

They have so much money that they've absconded from many sources, they'll never spend it.

But the one thing they DON'T have is -- -- class.

5. "A Texas ranch respite"? Respite from WHAT??
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 02:00 PM by ocelot
The sonofabitch never works as it is! What does he need "respite" from? Having to be more or less sober most of the time while he's at the White House, I imagine -- you ask me, he has to go to Crawford to visit his good friends Johnnie Walker and Jack Daniels. And this is his 50th -- FIFTIETH! trip to the pig farm in the last five years. Any of you guys had FIFTY vacations in the last five years?

I mean, I am getting tired of reading about Bush's failures and crashes. Why doesn't he just watch some TV. Everyone will be much safer.

27. He deserves it, he has kicked the dems ass up one side and down the other
Reality check time, we have lost every fucking significant vote. He wins them all and don't even mention Bolton, who gives a shit and he'll end up being appointed anyhow. Bush with the help of the sellout democrats has turned the U.S. Treasury into an ATM for corporate America, in fact anything that US Inc. wants they have gotten. There is no effective opposition, the idiot can do anything he wants to do and the dems will call a press conference and whine and then get their ass handed to them again. It's over, we will be living in a one party country while the repukes have bleed it dry until we are all dead. DU has become a fantasy land, sign a petition, bitch, DU a poll, make a donation, pretend someone cares, and it doesn't make a bit of difference because they are too smart, too rich, and too powerful to be stopped. Piss on the admiral and call in the boats the war over and the rats have won.

34. Call it what it is: VACATION

Can't seem to get my mind off of you
Back here at home there's nothin' to do
Now that I'm away
I wish I'd stayed
Tomorrow's a day of mine that you won't be in

When you looked at me I should've run
But I thought it was just for fun
I see I was wrong
And I'm not so strong
I should've known all along that time would tell

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet

CHORUS
Vacation
All I ever wanted
Vacation
Had to get away
Vacation
Meant to be spent alone

A week without you
Thought I'd forget
Two weeks without you and I
Still haven't gotten over you yet...

37. Bush plans 50th ranch trip in five years

WASHINGTON (AP) — Following the Congress in a midsummer exodus, President Bush plans a Texas ranch respite for several weeks, while Supreme Court nominee John Roberts has August to think about Senate confirmation hearings.
White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Friday that Bush will leave after signing into law the Central American Free Trade Agreement that Congress gave final approval to earlier this week.

It will be the president's 50th trip to the ranch since he was elected nearly five years ago.

McClellan said Bush looks forward to being able to "shed the coat and tie" at his more casual home near the small town of Crawford, Texas. Bush plans to travel to seven states from the ranch and hold at least 10 events to tout his agenda, including the war on terror and his economic priorities.

Members of Congress can pick among meetings to reacquaint themselves with their constitutents, march in parades and attend barbecuers and, doubtless, take some official trips as well.

Bush's first speech from his away-from-Washington life will be Wednesday, just about 150 miles up the road in the Dallas suburb of Grapevine. Bush plans to speak to the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative-leaning, bipartisan group of state lawmakers and business leaders.

On Thursday, Bush plans to host Colombian President Alvaro Uribe at his ranch..cont'd

month of the year?

I really don't get it? Don't you think that if you could afford to go anywhere, you would at least go someplace near the ocean or a lake instead of some ugly, hot, dusty, brush covered ranch?

And WTF is he doing going on vacation again anyway? Lazy piece of crap!

90. and not only that, but you also have to pay for those Western-themed ...
... extravaganzas that Georgie hosts, complete with singing cowboys and ranch grub.

" "We have a really wonderful visit planned for them," first lady Laura Bush said last week. "We're going to have a chuck wagon out in the lawn with cowboys cooking. We're going to have beef tenderloin, of course, and pecan pie."

She added that the two couples will be serenaded by "a great little Texas swing band . . . who sing those great Western songs like 'Drifting Along with the Tumbling Tumbleweeds.' "
http://copleydc.com/Archives-2001/condon_11-12-01.htm

I'm sure the reaction of the visitors ranges from stunned disbelief to barely-concealed hilarity. For example, Russian President Putin:
"Just I had a hard time imagining how could a living person create such a masterpiece of cooking. A fantastic meal. And when I said so to the President, he said, indeed, this cannot be done except for in Texas."

56. It is not a ranch
1 : a large farm for raising horses, beef cattle, or sheep
2 : a farm or area devoted to a particular specialty

Merriam Webster

Everytime I hear them refer to his hideout as a ranch I want to puke. Here in Texas you have to be careful what you call a ranch or you will get laughed out of the feed store. He probably doesn't even know where the closest feed store is to his 'ranch'. Also there are zoning restrictions against having pigs (he has pigs, right?) in the rural area I live in. Also no trailer houses. They are viewed the same.

President attracts new kind of crowd to tiny Crawford
By SARA FRITZ

© St. Petersburg Times, published November 19, 2001

- snip -

Bush loves his ranch, which he bought for an estimated $8-million while he was governor of Texas. He no longer owns the elegant home in Dallas that he lived in before moving into the Governor's Mansion in Austin.

Few journalists have ever been invited inside the gates of the Bush ranch, and the house is not visable from the road. Local shop owners discourage out-of-town visitors from even driving out to the gate. Owners of the surrounding farms have given the Secret Service access to their property to patrol the perimeter of the Bush ranch.

I read elsewhere that he bought the place in 1999 when he decided to run for president. I know his dad was wealthy at the time, but did he have that kind of money to spend? I suppose this purchase might be on his tax return for that year.

73. interesting ...
Whenever someone asked him about how much he'd paid, Bush would either get irritated or pretend he misunderstood the question ("Oh, it's not for sale").

I think he only visited the place a couple of times before the end of 2000 (once so the cameras could show him sauntering around the humble little green house where the original owners once lived ... meanwhile, his luxurious new custom-designed home was under construction, elsewhere on the property).

Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 11:46 PM by kskiska
until just before he became Reagan's VP. It had been owned by one of the Walker relatives prior to that, though the family had spent time there. It became available at that time.

I remember when Poppy was president and no one seemed to know exactly where the Bushes were really from. He gave his address as a hotel room in Houston, I believe. When he was unexpectedly expelled from office, the media was musing on where he might go. He said he owned some land in Houston, but it seemed awfully small to build on. He did build his present house there, though.

107. "Roger" that, and FUCK yeah!
Uzbekistan just asked us to leave
and Cheney told the military
to be prepared to attack Iran
if there is another "attack" on US soil.
I'm thinking it's going to get real scary, real soon.
Methinks Uzbekistan kicked us out because
THEY know Cheney was planning to use that
base to bomb the fuck out of Iran.
That would put them in a bad position
with their neighbors- now that they are
shuffling Bush off to the pig farm and
the traitors on the hill are going on a
five week recess, I think anything could happen
at this point. They've got their Patriot act ready
to swing, CAFTA, and their Hitlerian new SCOTUS
ready to go- and a whole mess of nasty
scandals like the ACLU FOIA requests for the rest of the
Abu Ghraib photos, Plame/Fitzgerald and the DMS
annoying them. Combine all that with low opinion polls and
the stage is perfectly set for another attack if
you ask me.
Plus Iran is the BIG plan, always has been.
All they need is something to justify the
attack, and that would be us getting hit again.

103. Oh, for pity's sake, it's not a ranch
no matter what he chooses to call it. Livestock...cattle, horses, etc., are raised on a ranch, and are normally a source of income. In East Texas, especially, there are more farms...watermelon, whatever. I'm a 5th generation Texan, and I would never refer to whatthehell ever he has in Crawford as a ranch.

He's a phony, he comes from a family of phonies, and we don't want him back here in Texas polluting the atmosphere when his "hard work" is done. Bad enough that Poppy and the she-devil who spawned him claim Houston as home.

As I said, I'm a native Texan, and if I could afford to escape the hell of a Texas August, I would do it gladly. And some of the ranchers I've known have had controlled burns of brush when it got out of control, rather than clearing a couple of hundred acres with a chain saw.

What a moran.

113. He now clears Brush
with his bicycle - they just send him out for a ride and when he crashes the bike (as he invariably does) he flies over the handlebars and creates a wide swath of destruction in the Brush, breaking all that useless wood with his useless wooden head into small pieces.

While he's reeling from another 70 mph interior brainsmash into the forehead of his size 6 skull, they stand him up and tell him "We're going to play 'Pik up Stiks' now, won't that be FUN?" - and he obliges happily.

Later he goes fishing (the press are barred from photographing the event as he stands right there on the water, just like Jesus, don't need a boat or nuthin') - but without a fishing pole so he won't prick himself on a hook and get more infected than he already is, the boils are coming hard and fast with the RoveGate case looming - the SS tell him it's the latest technology, a "stealth" (invisible) fishing pole, so that the fish don't get scared away - so he stands there whipping his arm forward and back with nothing in his hands, reeling in to cast again, and again - a big smile on his scraped and bruised face (from a long day of Bicycle Brush Clearing), just waiting to catch one of those genetically engineered 60 lb bass, which have been stocked in the pond.

In the afternoon he "milks" a horse and then thinks about having the SS shoot it so it won't give him away to the media, but then makes a call to McClellan demanding that Scotty offer the Horse White House Press Credentials instead, but they have to say "Gannon" on them..

For dinner they invite one of their Favorite Pals to the Disneylike "ranch", a REAL PRINCE from Saudi Arabia, and offer him a BIG old side or Baby Back PORK ribs, doused in BBQ sauce which uses 40 weight oil as a base, along with yummy molasses.

The Prince brings a big bag filled with unmarked bills and fills up everyone's gas tank.

Later Cheney stops by and seems to be enjoying himself until Bush and the Prince get too playful, playing "keep away" with Cheney's new transplant cooler, which holds a heart harvested from a young Iraqi boy from Fallujah, and a six pack of Coors lite. The BBQ is almost ruined with Bush tosses the heart too hard and it lands on the grill, but Cheney is nonplussed and just tells the cook to add some sauteed onions and put it on a bun for a snack, as he has plenty more kiddie hearts - his trunk of his fine German limo is filled with coolers and organs on ice.

When the guests have been bedded down or left Bush goes into his gym and works on his Smirk for two hours, not wanting to be outdone by Cheney's sneer - poor Bush doesn't know that the sneer is caused by Cheney's actual form (Satan) wearing a "human" suit disguise that is at least one size too large - it constantly slips and shifts around on him, mostly on the face part, so one side or the other of his mouth is drooping. Satan (Cheney) had planned on getting a more perfect fitting disguise, but doesn't have the time, so much evil and misery to spread and so little time to spend between earth and Hell, and Congress..

Late at night, when Pickles and George have the lights out in the bedroom, Bush gets "frisky" and takes from his wife what the bible has insisted is his - much to his surprise she is frisky herself, making little animal noises that turn him on very much.. When he's "completed the Mission" he sighs contentedly and tells Pickles, "That lovemakin' was some of the best we've had - it felt like you were 20 years old again.."

Pickles turns on the light, rolls over, pulls off her Black Lone Ranger style eye covering pads and says, "What in the hell are you talking about? And where's Barney?" Both notice that Barney is in the corner of the room, whimpering, with his head down in his crotch, shivering.

Laura says, "Gee, I haven't seen him lick that much since I clocked you during the football game while you were eating pretzels and when you were out cold Barney was licking the salt offa you for an hour - I'd better get him some Preparation H, and YOU, YOU sleep in the barn tonight.."

So Bush picks up his favorite "pilly" (pillow) and toddles off to the barn with SS men in tow. He lays out a blanket in the trunk of the Presidential limo because it's more roomy, and with a sleepy, "Hey, it still smells like Jimmy Hoffa in here.." he drifts off to dreamland, thinking of a new day dawning tomorrow, or that lovely blast furnace morning breeze of 130 degrees - maybe he'd have the cook fry his eggs on the patio furniture in the morning, might be fun..

FROM: WHat I done on my Summer vacation while I rammed Bolton up all the Democrats asses who didn't seem to see it coming at all, the recess thing, even tho I've done it more than a dozen times & How when I got back to Washington there was a bill waiting for me to sign that said the President could now actually Pardon people for any crime, at any time - waaaay before he ever left office - if he ever DID..
