Israeli national attempts to steal secrets of Siberian researchers?

In the Novosibirsk airport Tolmachevo customs and FSB (the Federal Security Service) officers seized a diskette with information on research work carried out in Siberia from an Israeli national, said the press service of the FSB Novosibirsk Department on Tuesday.

Before boarding the plane leaving for Israel, a passenger (an Israeli national) passing customs control was found to have a computer diskette with information on Russian scientific developments. The diskette was seized. The Israeli national was not detained.

"The diskette has been sent to Moscow for examination. Specialists will see if the diskette information is a state secret," said the FSB. Depending on the expert conclusion, a "corresponding procedural decision" will be taken, the FSB Novosibirsk Department said.
Sorry..... this was a really short article! :bounce:

Wonder what was on that disk! :tinfoilhat:

2. So why wasn't he detained?
Is there some sort of international law that Israeli spies and criminals can't be locked up like everybody else caught in the same situation?

4. Could have been a sting
Maybe who they were really looking for was the party that provided the Israeli with the information in the first place.

6. Could be that the person was using a diplomatic passport?
If I remember right, they can seize the suspect items (unless they are in a diplomatic pouch) but that arresting the person with the diplomatic passport is actually more trouble than it is worth. They would only have to release and deport him or her in a couple of days.

They would be more interested in finding where the info came from than fucking around with a diplomatic passport holder.
